Parents of a main character...

I need to name the parents of one of my main characters.

My character’s name is [name]Annie[/name] [name]Ford[/name]. She was born in Huntsville, [name]Texas[/name] and had a pretty good childhood until she turned 12 and after that things got tough. Her mother was found dead in their home and the father got blamed for it. [name]Till[/name] this day he claims he didn’t do anything…says he was set up. He is in prison. [name]Annie[/name] loves her father, but now she is a cop with the [name]Houston[/name] police department and she believes the evidence. Her mother had been having an affair and her lover had an strong alibi. Her father had found out and started drinking. In addition, her father always had sort of a wild streak in him and would get in bar fights, and would disappear for days at a time. The mother isn’t the strong type and instead of facing her marriage problems head on, she turned to someone else. She was guilty though and was going to break it off. [name]Annie[/name]'s foundest memory of her mother is helping her work in her flower garden. The best times she had with her father was when they would drive into town to go for icecream or just to go to the hardware store. Her father used to smoke and she used to love the smell of tabacco.

The parents were born in the late 50’s / early 60’s. Last name is [name]Ford[/name]. The mother’s maiden name was Clearwater.

Father:
[name]Peter[/name] [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Scott[/name] [name]Ford[/name]
[name]William[/name] [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Richard[/name] [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Ross[/name] [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Jim[/name] Fore

I think my favorite out of there is [name]Richard[/name].

Mother:
[name]Gwen[/name] Clearwater [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Jenny[/name] Clearwater [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Molly[/name] Clearwater [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Nicole[/name] Clearwater [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name] Clearwater [name]Ford[/name]

I like [name]Jenny[/name] and [name]Molly[/name] the best out of those. [name]Hope[/name] you find the perfect names!

For the father,
[name]Christopher[/name] [name]Ford[/name],
[name]William[/name] [name]Ford[/name],
[name]James[/name] [name]Ford[/name],
[name]Spencer[/name] [name]Ford[/name],
[name]Arthur[/name] [name]Ford[/name],
[name]George[/name] [name]Ford[/name],
[name]Charles[/name] [name]Ford[/name],

For the mother,
[name]Helen[/name] [name]Ford[/name],
[name]Louise[/name] [name]Ford[/name],
[name]Martha[/name] [name]Ford[/name],
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Ford[/name],
[name]Frances[/name] [name]Ford[/name],
[name]Eve[/name] [name]Ford[/name],
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Ford[/name],

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

For the mother, I’m liking [name]Jenny[/name] and [name]Gwen[/name] the best. [name]Elizabeth[/name] (nn. [name]Liz[/name]) would work too.

For the father, I liking [name]Ross[/name], [name]William[/name] (nn. [name]Bill[/name]), [name]Charles[/name] (nn. [name]Charlie[/name]). I love [name]James[/name] [name]Ford[/name], but that is [name]Sawyer[/name] on Lost.

Would Lonnie, Leroy, Gary, or Charles (nn. Chuck) work?

Anyone have any other suggestions?

[name]Leroy[/name] [name]Ford[/name] is awesome! I think something like [name]Butch[/name], Butchie, or [name]Arnold[/name] “Arn” would be good. For the mom I’m liking [name]Jenny[/name], but that seems a bit “blah”. What about [name]Barbara[/name] nn [name]Barb[/name]? Or [name]Susan[/name]/[name]Susie[/name]/[name]Suzie[/name]/[name]Suzy[/name]? Oooo I really like [name]Nancy[/name] Clearwater-[name]Ford[/name]! Good luck!

[name]Leroy[/name] would work for the father. It’s sort of a “playful” name which covers how the father is a little wild and irresponsible sometimes. That being said, I don’t want the father coming off as too much of a goof because [name]Annie[/name] loves her father dearly. Infact before all the problems hit, her parents were her whole world as she is an only child. Her father wasn’t around much, but when he was around him and [name]Annie[/name] had soem good times. The mother had a total soft spot for the father and it hurt when he would take off for days at a time, party with the boys, he was even into some illegal actives, but he was her weakness…even though she turned to another man…she always came back or wanted to come back.

Here are some more names I com across for the mother:
[name]Annette[/name] (the lord has favored me)
[name]Charlene[/name] (free man)…like it, and it feels like a fair, blonde delicate person. I just don’t know about [name]Charlene[/name] Clearwater [name]Ford[/name]…too many of several letters??? I can change the maiden name though?
[name]Cheryl[/name] (darling)
[name]Darlene[/name] (darling)…little harder then [name]Charlene[/name] but I like the meaning.
[name]Elaine[/name] (bright shining one)
[name]Gail[/name] (my father rejoices)…it fits
[name]Gloria[/name] (glory)
[name]Karen[/name] (pure)
[name]Lorraine[/name]
[name]Lynette[/name] (idol)
[name]Marilyn[/name] (bitter, lake)
[name]Paula[/name] (small)…maybe too soft?
[name]Paulette[/name] (small)
[name]Roberta[/name] NN. [name]Bobbie[/name] (bright fame)…[name]Roberta[/name] seems to strong, but [name]Bobbie[/name] I can picture. The problem is I have always pictured [name]Roberta[/name] as a red-head…the mother is fair and blonde.
[name]Roxanne[/name] (dawn)
[name]Sally[/name] (princess)
[name]Sarah[/name] (princess)
[name]Shirley[/name] (bright meadow)
[name]Suzanne[/name] (lily)

Any thoughts??

For the dad what about, [name]Russell[/name] [name]Ford[/name], [name]Harvey[/name] [name]Ford[/name], [name]Peter[/name] [name]Ford[/name], [name]George[/name] [name]Ford[/name]

For the mum what about, [name]Jessica[/name] [name]Ford[/name], [name]Laurel[/name] [name]Ford[/name], [name]Sylvia[/name] [name]Ford[/name], [name]Edith[/name] ([name]Edie[/name]) [name]Ford[/name]

Of the names suggested I really like [name]Bill[/name] [name]Ford[/name] for the father and for the mother [name]Charlene[/name], [name]Darlene[/name] or [name]Lynette[/name] - names that you could picture cheating and yet still be sympathetic to. These names assume that the family was not wealthy - which is the sense that I got from your description.

Father:
[name]Eugene[/name] “[name]Bud[/name]” [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Edward[/name] “[name]Ted[/name]” [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Vick[/name] [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Hank[/name] [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Michael[/name] “[name]Al[/name]” [name]Ford[/name]

Mother:
[name]Cathlene[/name] “[name]Kay[/name]” Clearwater [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name] Clearwater [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Helen[/name] Clearwater [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] “[name]May[/name]” Clearwater [name]Ford[/name]
[name]Romona[/name] “[name]Mona[/name]”/"[name]Ro[/name]" Clearwater [name]Ford[/name]

Wow…thanks for all the suggestions. I am going to go with [name]Bill[/name] [name]Ford[/name] for the father. Simple and to the point. Plus I’ve always associated a [name]Bill[/name] to be more outgoing then say a [name]George[/name] or a [name]Peter[/name]. At least in my experience.

Now, for the mother, I’m liking [name]Charlene[/name]. It’s femine but sounds a little vulnerable. But, does the double ‘C’ work? [name]Charlene[/name] Clearwater?
