Paris

I think [name_u]Paris[/name_u] is beautiful. I love the nickname [name_f]Pari[/name_f] and that it means angle or fairy in Persian I believe. I have a connection to the name, as my mother’s maiden name is [name_u]Parris[/name_u]. [name_u]Parris[/name_u] is my little sisters middle name and I love her dearly. I would love to honor her by using [name_u]Paris[/name_u] as a first. However, I believe I would go with [name_u]Paris[/name_u] over [name_u]Parris[/name_u].

[name_f]My[/name_f] issue: [name_f]Do[/name_f] people still think of [name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_m]Hilton[/name_m]? I have nothing against [name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_m]Hilton[/name_m], but I know some people, especially in my age range who were young during her heyday, may not have good associations. I asked my 20 year old son if he had any clue who she was, he said no. I feel like enough time has passed, but for a long while the name [name_u]Paris[/name_u] was synonymous with [name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_m]Hilton[/name_m]. I love the name, but I’m reticent to use any name that is so heavily tied to a celebrity.

What do you think?

I don’t think people her generation will associate it with [name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_m]Hilton[/name_m], and most of her teachers etc will also be too young for that. By the time she’s in school, only older people will make that connection, if they still remember her. That would not deter me.

I know a [name_u]Paris[/name_u] and I never would have remembered the [name_m]Hilton[/name_m] association. Your familial one is so much more impactful and lovely! I adore [name_u]Paris[/name_u] for you!

Some will but in this day and age it shouldn’t be overbearing, especially with the connection with the city . [name_u]Paris[/name_u] has a long history of use and I actually think of the [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] character before the heiress, lol. I think it’s lovely and as soon as it was attached to a little human they would make it their own and any associations will fade into the background.

I know some adults would but not sure the generation she’d be growing up with would. I don’t think it’s an overwhelming association and would probably think of the city first :person_shrugging:

I’d think the city, then the Shakespeare character, then Paris Hilton. It’s such a lovely family connection for you I think that overrides any other associations!

I feel old :joy:

I do think about [name_m]Hilton[/name_m], but it’s not a bad association for me. Either way, its a beautiful name and most ppl would think about the city first. Maybe a more traditional middle would balance it out.

I don’t think she dominates the name. I also first thought of [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls.

I think of the city first, and also the prince of [name_u]Troy[/name_u] from the Iliad.
It’s a lovely-sounding name, with great connections for you!
For what it’s worth, I actually like the double “r” spelling that you mentioned, since [name_u]Parris[/name_u] is so unique & beautiful, and avoids any other associations too.

I really like [name_u]Paris[/name_u] too! It’s fun and spunky but can be really girly too. FWIW, [name_m]Hilton[/name_m] is definitely my first association (I’m right in that generation that would think of her) but it’s not bad or overwhelming. [name_f]My[/name_f] mind thinks of her, but it’s not a “one person” kind of name where I would assume a [name_u]Paris[/name_u] is named after/because of [name_m]Hilton[/name_m], if that makes sense.
