Yea for progress! You berries really made us feel as though we have looked at ALL the double letter names. Here’s is where we are after all the thoughtful comments.
[name_f]Lilla[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f] & [name_f]Etta[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] could work but I don’t love it. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Leonie[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u]…
[name_f]Lilla[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f] & [name_f]Joelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Joelle[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f], [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], need better middle name ideas.
[name_f]Colette[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Faye[/name_f] are still hanging on but second tier.
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]/[name_f]Julietta[/name_f] will only come back if we decide that this baby is definitely an [name_f]Etta[/name_f] but decide we would rather use a full name. I know she has a lot of fans so sorry to disappoint.
We would love to get some more middle name ideas (surname is C00k) and
pros/cons, favorites and least favorites for the names we have left on our list.
*edit:Removed Gemma because of niece Emma. I literally just emailed DH yesterday that I would rather use Emmeline than Gemma if we were going to use anything that close to Emma. Thanks Desdemona for reminding me!
[name_f]Josette[/name_f] or [name_f]Etta[/name_f]. Either double tt name or double mm name, you already have ll ([name_f]Lilla[/name_f]), nn ([name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]) and ss ([name_f]Tess[/name_f]), then you may or may not avoid it.
Can’t believe you don’t love [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f]. I think of [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f] [name_m]Stone[/name_m] and its huge impact it had on understanding ancient Egyptian language. [name_u]Story[/name_u] goes young archeologist discovered it while he hid behind it during some war in [name_u]Egypt[/name_u]. He wasn’t a soldier and couldn’t or wouldn’t fight and noticing [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f] [name_m]Stone[/name_m] gain him fame and helped him advance his career. I always thought this story is story of success and good luck.
[name_m]Aren[/name_m]'t your nice [name_f]Emma[/name_f]? Wouldn’t that rule out [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]?
I think my favorite stand alone is [name_f]Etta[/name_f], but for some reason it doesn’t fit with your girls to me. I think your girls’ names feel prim and girly, whereas [name_f]Etta[/name_f] feels a little country/jazz/wild to me. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] is cute though. With your girls I like [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] best, which feels modern but very feminine. I like [name_f]Josette[/name_f] also but don’t like that it has all the sounds of [name_f]Tess[/name_f] in it. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] personally. It feels Southern/“country” and less stylish than the others.
My pick would be [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f].
I just love [name_f]Etta[/name_f] with your sibset! It’s beautiful, classy, and spunky too. I like [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as a combo. And I was wondering…what middle names can’t you use?
@desdemona - Yes about [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. I edited the main post. As for [name_f]Rosetta[/name_f] it’s just not my cup of tea.
@sarah1800 - I have never heard [name_f]Tess[/name_f] described as prim so that gave me a bit of a giggle. We think of our girls names as vintage but light. [name_f]Josette[/name_f] and [name_f]Joelle[/name_f] both feel very french almost to a kitschy french maid point to me. [name_f]Joella[/name_f] and [name_f]Joetta[/name_f] feel totally country to me and I see how even the [name_u]Jo[/name_u] beginning can lend itself to that so I’m not dismissing your point but that isn’t how we view them, dated maybe but not country.
@cgwaltney - Our girls middles are [name_u]Clare[/name_u], [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]. I don’t know all of our nieces middle names but we can’t use [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_u]Kay[/name_u] or [name_m]George[/name_m] variants. We like french names as you can see from the combos we were tossing around.
What about [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] as the first name? It has double letters, plus it makes all four girls names bridge together, with the longer name to tie to vivienne and contrast with lilla/[name_f]Tess[/name_f]. For some reason the jo-names do not seem like a natural fit in your very sweetly feminine set. And [name_f]Etta[/name_f] seems nn-ey, to me, as the first name. I like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Josette[/name_f], nn [name_f]Etta[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is great and she’s my favorite from your “first tier”! From reading some of your posts it really seems like she’s a favorite of yours. I like all three of your MN options with [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u] being my favorite, she’s beautiful.
[name_f]Colette[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]/[name_f]Julietta[/name_f] are all lovely options but it seems like your just not feeling those as much. Favorites would be [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] or [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]/[name_f]Julietta[/name_f].
Suggestions for MN’s for [name_f]Etta[/name_f]:
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]

[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] ~ I know you said you felt [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] was too close to [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] but maybe in the middle?
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] / [name_f]Liliane[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Clarisse[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Marceline[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Marielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Celestine[/name_f]
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] is my favourite by a mile - it’s so jazzy and upbeat, and [name_f]IMO[/name_f] is the only one on your list that matches up to the pretty spunkiness of your other girls’ names.
I will also put in a vote for [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] if you do decide you want a longer formal name. I think it would be perfect with your other girls’ names!
@mousehouse7 - We are looking for a consecutive double letter. While I do love [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] my cousin just had a baby [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] a few weeks ago and it seems rude to for us to have a little [name_f]Evie[/name_f] as well.
@gildedfairyx - Yes [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is the favorite I just wish we had a full name we liked as much but all of the xxxxetta names are just not right. Maybe I’ll get there with [name_f]Julietta[/name_f] but so far [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is far prefered. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u] is my favorite combo as well. I like [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f].
@katinka - Thanks for the votes of support for a bit there it seemed like we were making non-berry approved choices.
I love [name_f]Josette[/name_f] and [name_f]Etta[/name_f] but I think [name_f]Etta[/name_f] takes the lead for me, especially with your beautifully named children. I absolutely love the combo of [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u], what a brilliant name!
Considering middle names: I think [name_u]Clare[/name_u] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] has a familiar fell to it. [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] needs a flower match. What about:
I like [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u] the most of your list! I think [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]/[name_f]Mollie[/name_f] would also be really sweet with your other girls names, and the -ie ending gives all of their names an individual ending sound.
[name_f]Lilla[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f], and [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilla[/name_f], [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f], and [name_f]Mollie[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
I think you have a great list. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is a great fit with [name_f]Tess[/name_f]. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_u]Simone[/name_u] is gorgeous! I wouldn’t do [name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] because it sounds like etouffee.
I really love the idea of an 'ette name, simply because it is so [name_m]French[/name_m]. [name_f]Josette[/name_f] is a cute name I have never heard before.
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]! My friend has an [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]. So pretty! I think [name_f]Etta[/name_f] can hang on her own. My favorite was [name_f]Colette[/name_f] but now with same letter last name I think I prefer just [name_f]Etta[/name_f]!
