I’m not pregnant or anything but I’ve been with my partner a while and the baby name thing keeps popping up! I’ve always had the names in my mind of what I’d call my children, however, it’s finally hit me on how difficult it’s going to be when choosing a name together because we are both very happy to voice our opinions!
After his first suggestion of [name_f]Summer[/name_f], I managed to persuade him on [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] but he would decide the middle so that led to [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! What do you think?
I’m not ready to try and put my more unusual favourites on him just yet such as [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]! He’s pondering [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] and [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] at the moment lol!!
[name]Arabella[/name] [name]Eden[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is a lovely combo! I also like [name]Arabella[/name] [name]Summer[/name]. I think it flows well.
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is lovely! I actually like it more than what I remembered your [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] combo to be ([name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]? Or has it changed?).
On the other hand, it makes me sad, because I still can’t imagine you without three girls named [name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], and [name_f]Edie[/name_f]. [name_m]Ah[/name_m], well. I think that ship has long since sailed. [name_u]Eden[/name_u] has been off your list as a FN for a while, no?
Yes, there is a huge difference between naming pretend babies as a teen/single adult and actually hammering it out with a real partner! I do think that it is more of a girl thing to dream up names growing up, but that doesn’t mean that our male (or female) partners haven’t given it a lot of thought too. I’ve heard about husbands who are like “Whatever you want, dear,” or times when they both happen to really like the same name, but for most couples, it is a somewhat harrowing process and you have to be able to give and take.
My husband and I have very different naming styles, but we’re slowly hammering out a compromise zone. He likes tomboyish names or old-school surnames for a girl. I like unusual, but blatantly feminine names. So his name suggestions need to have a wearable, somewhat feminine nickname, and mine are better received if we can come up with a cute, tomboyish nickname.
Compromise is hard, so if you find something that hits the spot, I’d say go for it.
Aw, I remeber the days of [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] & [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and I do still love the idea of that but I’m slightly concerned about the trendiness of [name_u]Eden[/name_u] but I’ll look at that when the 2012 name lists are released in the UK sometime this month! I do think I prefer [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] to [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], besides my partner dislikes [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] alot.
I’m still crushing on [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] and [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] and I’m trying to convince him on these lol! However, that leaves me stuck on an [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] combo. [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f], [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f], [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] are other ideas that we’ve played around with.
I adore [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] but hes not keen on it but who knows when the time actually comes to have a baby! [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is still the combo I love.
