Pateince?

Thoughts on [name_f]Patience[/name_f]?

I don’t love virtue names to begin with, but I don’t really like [name_f]Patience[/name_f].

It’s pretty as a thought, but imagine a teacher calling roll. The child may be embarrassed or called names.

It just doesn’t seem like a plausible name.

I’m not sure I’ll ever use a virtue name for a child of mine (they are hard for multi-lingual families), but they do appeal to me. I like [name_f]Patience[/name_f]. I particularly like it’s similarity to [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] and that it doesn’t come up often - even on NB.

I was actually contemplating the name [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] the other day - it is clearly a virtue name but as we don’t use the word felicity in everyday language (at least in English) anymore so, it doesn’t seem so wordy. I don’t see why [name_f]Patience[/name_f] should be any less usable than [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Prudence[/name_f], [name_f]Amity[/name_f], [name_f]Hope[/name_f], or [name_f]Joy[/name_f]. I think it’s lovely.

If you absolutely love the name I’d say go for it. Though I’d be careful to pair it with a more namey-name. That way if does prove difficult or you happen to have a very impatient child going by a mn is always an option. <wink>
