Patience

What do you think of [name]Patience[/name]?

It looks like it re-entered the top 1000 in 1994 and has been climbing very slowly upward since then (it’s still really low at the moment). I had never really given it much thought, but based off of its sound I totally get its appeal. I think it’s really pretty. I’m not sure if I love its meaning. I’m kind of just rolling it around in my head right now.

So, what are your thoughts on [name]Patience[/name]? I’m not entirely sure what mine are quite yet.

I think it is one of those names like Brave and [name]Honesty[/name] that pressures a kid to live up to its meaning. I’m dislike virtue names to begin with, so maybe I’m not the best person to ask. But I also wonder what nicknames it could have. [name]Patty[/name]? Not a fan of [name]Patty[/name].

I really like it, honestly.

I knew this adorable little girl whose name was Pashence… I (as most Berries do, I’m guessing) hate the spelling, but when I thought it was spelled [name]Patience[/name], I thought it was adorable! She was in Kindergarten when I graduated from 8th grade and we all went to this really tight-knit, small, less-than-one-hundred-students pre-k to 10th grade sort of [name]Christian[/name] private school and she and her best friend followed me around everywhere, haha. She was just the cutest and I have the best image of a little [name]Patience[/name] because of her. The only nn she had was PayPay, but I would guess she could get whatever nns [name]Peyton[/name]/[name]Payton[/name] has… Pay, Pay-Pay, [name]Pate[/name]… if she wanted a more androgynous nn, I suppose she could even go by [name]Shawn[/name]/[name]Sean[/name]/[name]Shaun[/name]…

The little Pashence I knew had a big sister named [name]Rachel[/name]–I think [name]Rachel[/name] and [name]Patience[/name] are utterly perfect together!

I’ve always had a thing for virtue names and consistently consider names like [name]Grace[/name], [name]Hope[/name], [name]Nadia[/name], [name]Verity[/name], [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Mercy[/name], etc… I don’t know if I would have the guts to use [name]Patience[/name] but I would be so happy to meet a little girl with the name! It’s soft, sweet, reserved… it’s a virtue name, yes, but it doesn’t seem like one of them that you would have to live up to the meaning of your name because it’s so out-there. Maybe it’s just because I knew a delightful little [name]Patience[/name]/Pashence years ago.

It’s a cool name, but as said, I think it pressures a kid to live up to their name. What if they turn out to be a really impatient sort of a person?

I’m not a fan at all, if I’m honest. I feel that virtue names give children a lot to live up to. In general, I dislike virtue names with the exception of [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Amity[/name].
