[name]Patricia[/name] is my mother’s name & also the name of my SO’s grandmother. We both love the idea of using a name with such strong ties to both sides but we’re both not happy with [name]Patty[/name] or [name]Pat[/name] (it would be confusing with all those [name]Pats[/name] running around!). I like [name]Patsy[/name] a little better but what about [name]Pasha[/name]?? I found out [name]Pasha[/name] is a Greek name meaning “of the ocean” and my SO is very Greek on his mother’s side. Can I get away with [name]Patricia[/name] nn [name]Pasha[/name] or will she always be [name]Pat[/name]?
I love the idea of [name]Patricia[/name] nn [name]Patsy[/name]! [name]Pasha[/name] is not as much my style, but I think it definitely could work. I know as many Trishas/Tricias/Trishes as I know [name]Pats[/name]/Pattys, so I definitely think something more out-there like [name]Patsy[/name] (so cute!) or [name]Pasha[/name] could work.
Good luck!
[name]Pasha[/name] is cute but I have only even known boys named [name]Pasha[/name], its the most common nn for the Russian [name]Pavel[/name]…or [name]Paul[/name].
[name]Patricia[/name] nn [name]Pasha[/name] makes total sense to me! Definitely unique and uncommon and you may have to “explain” it to some curious people but I think it’s fine. I also think [name]Patsy[/name] is really sweet. I recently read [name]Hatsy[/name] as a traditional nn for [name]Harriet[/name]. I thought that was intriguing.I know there are historical patterns of rhyming nicknames - [name]Josephine[/name] / [name]Josie[/name] / [name]Posy[/name], and I wonder if you could do [name]Patricia[/name] / [name]Patsy[/name] / [name]Hatsy[/name] if you like that.
Good luck!
I don’t mind my daughter rocking a unisex nickname, especially with a full name like [name]Patricia[/name] which is clearly feminine. We don’t have a lot of Russian families down here (we have a lot of trendy names; [name]Hunter[/name], [name]Aiden[/name], [name]Madison[/name], [name]Skye[/name]) and I think the chances of running into a local male [name]Pasha[/name] are slim. I am falling more and more in love with [name]Patricia[/name] nn [name]Pasha[/name]. I think this was what I needed to get on board with [name]Patricia[/name] as a real contender! Thanks for replying everyone, honest outsider opinions on things you feel you are obsessing over are REALLY helpful. Like, REALLY REALLY helpful!
I love [name]Pasha[/name]! What a nice way to freshen up [name]Patricia[/name].
