My grandmother, Patty, and a family friend, Connie, are/were the women in my life who always made me feel loved. Miss Connie has already left this world and my grandmother is not long for it. Either way, they’re two people I feel it would be important to me to honor should I have a daughter. The question, of course, is how. I’m having trouble finding anything that sits well with these names.
How would you combo Patty or maybe Patsy and Connie as middle names? Which, if any, of the combos below do you like?
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Patty[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Patty[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_u]Patsy[/name_u], [name_f]Ida[/name_f] [name_u]Patsy[/name_u], and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_u]Connie[/name_u] are my favorites.
It’s so fun seeing some older names getting some love, and especially since they honor some special people in your life.
Some of my suggestions: [name_m]Can[/name_m] interchange [name_f]Patty[/name_f] and [name_u]Patsy[/name_u]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_f]Patty[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Patty[/name_f]
Vivian/Vivienne [name_f]Patty[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Patty[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Patty[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f] [name_f]Patty[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_u]Connie[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_u]Connie[/name_u]
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_u]Connie[/name_u]
[name_f]Katerina[/name_f] [name_u]Connie[/name_u]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_u]Connie[/name_u]
I’d probably go with using the full names. [name_f]Constance[/name_f] is a gorgeous and underused name ripe for a comeback! [name_f]Constance[/name_f] [name_u]Patrice[/name_u] would be a lovely combo
With Patty/Patsy, I think [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] work particularly well. And with [name_u]Connie[/name_u], I quite like [name_f]Julia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f].
Apparently, I think the 3-syllable classics work best with the nickname-y middles.
I really like [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Patty[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Patty[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] [name_u]Connie[/name_u] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_u]Patsy[/name_u]!
I would also probably go for their full names but if not I love [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Patty[/name_f] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_u]Connie[/name_u].
@kidpix21: I’m quite fond of older names at the moment, especially since these honor.
I like your suggestions of [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] [name_u]Patsy[/name_u], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Patty[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Patty[/name_f] / [name_u]Patsy[/name_u], [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] [name_f]Patty[/name_f] / [name_u]Patsy[/name_u], and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_u]Connie[/name_u].
Thanks so much!
@skylerros: I’m a [name_f]Patricia[/name_f], actually, though I go by [name_f]Pia[/name_f]. I was named to honor both of my grandmothers, one [name_f]Patty[/name_f] and the other [name_f]Patricia[/name_f]. So, I suppose if I were to use [name_f]Patty[/name_f] it could be a bit of a nod to myself as well.
I’ve thought about using [name_f]Constance[/name_f] to honor Miss [name_u]Connie[/name_u] before. A few years ago I had a thread about honoring her and that was a go-to.
[name_f]Patience[/name_f] is quite sweet as well. I had a major crush on the combo [name_f]Patience[/name_f] [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] for quite some time.
I’m loving your suggestion of [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_u]Connie[/name_u]. It doesn’t quite fit with my current style but it’s darling.
Thank you!
@esita: There are definitely persk to going with the full name of [name_f]Constance[/name_f] but I’m not loving it at the moment.
Thanks!
@elanorelle: I think you’re right, a three syllable name works well with the nickname-y middles.
@cactusgram: [name_f]Patty[/name_f] and [name_u]Connie[/name_u] are actually their full first names. I don’t love them as first names so they’ve been sent to the middle but I find them rather endearing there.
Perhaps mixing them might be helpful
[name_f]Kitty[/name_f]
[name_u]Penny[/name_u]?
[name_u]Or[/name_u] are they too far removed from the original names?
@sgsg8: I like your suggestions of [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_u]Patsy[/name_u] (my middle name is Ann), [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Connie[/name_u], and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_u]Connie[/name_u].
@eleanore3: [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Constance[/name_f] is pretty!
@Laurenabbey: Mixing them is an interesting idea and not something I had considered. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the names [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] and [name_u]Penny[/name_u], but maybe they are too far removed. I might explore this option a bit more with a few more names I would like to incorporate.
@katkabet: Aw, thanks! Warm and familiar is a good place to aim for, I think.
@Harvest-Endellion: [name_f]Tricia[/name_f] doesn’t really work in this case as she is a [name_f]Patty[/name_f] and not a [name_f]Patricia[/name_f], nn “Patty”. [name_f]Connemara[/name_f] is interesting! I was familiar with the place but hadn’t considered it as a name.
