Paul has been floating around here.

We have been asking family to throw out family names. [name_m]Paul[/name_m] is another family name. We have a similar feeling about [name_m]Paul[/name_m] as we did with [name_m]David[/name_m], a little unsure but also really liking it. We love [name_m]David[/name_m] now. What are your opinions about [name_m]Paul[/name_m]?

Oooh. [name_m]Paul[/name_m]. Handsome, solid, strong. Lots of history, mostly good. I like it!

I have been liking [name_m]Paul[/name_m] a lot lately - it’s just so strong and handsome, as well as being a classic. I prefer it to [name_m]David[/name_m], but I have mixed associations with [name_m]David[/name_m], so that might be affecting it.

[name_m]Paul[/name_m] is such a handsome name. [name_f]Every[/name_f] boy I have ever been in love with has been a [name_m]Paul[/name_m] (my husband most of all!).

It’s both classic and jaunty, and not overused these days.

I like [name_m]Paul[/name_m] much more than [name_m]David[/name_m].

I truly want to love [name_m]Paul[/name_m]. I love the story of the apostle, and I love the Russian form ([name_m]Pavel[/name_m]!), but I just can’t get into [name_m]Paul[/name_m]. It’s so middle-aged and boring for me! I can appreciate [name_m]David[/name_m] much more than I can appreciate [name_m]Paul[/name_m] (probably because I think [name_m]Davy[/name_m]'s pretty cute). It also may be because I adore [name_m]Peter[/name_m] so very much, and [name_m]Paul[/name_m] just doesn’t compare at all for me. I would be tickled pink to meet a little boy named [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. Sad as it is, if I met a [name_m]Paul[/name_m], I would probably just think, “Meh. It must have been a family name.” I wouldn’t judge him for his name–I just don’t find it interesting at all. I like [name_m]Peter[/name_m] (and [name_m]David[/name_m]! … and even [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Birch[/name_m]! le sigh. I adore that combo) much more.

My husband really likes the name [name_m]Paul[/name_m]. I don’t so much. Like the above poster, I love the story of the Apostle [name_m]Paul[/name_m]. Growing up my favourite priest was Father [name_m]Paul[/name_m]… but there is no way I could name my child [name_m]Paul[/name_m]. Its an under used classic right now with lots of history. Ideally, I would love it. I adore [name_m]David[/name_m], its one of my son’s middle names and its my father-in-laws name. I don’t think its quite as uncommon these days as [name_m]Paul[/name_m]- is that good or bad for you?

is a great name, in my opinion.

And I even like [name_m]Paulie[/name_m] as a private nickname.

Somehow it seems to avoid seeming dated like [name_m]Scott[/name_m] or other similar names. Maybe the Bibical street creds.

[name_m]Paul[/name_m] is great. Sturdy, masculine, but unassuming.

On a sidenote, my brother was adamant that had his daughter been a boy, the name would have been [name_m]Paul[/name_m] after politician [name_m]Ron[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m]. Yeah…

I love the name [name_m]Paul[/name_m]. I think it’s more refreshing then [name_m]David[/name_m]. I like that it’s strong and classic but there won’t be 3 other boys in the class with the same name.

I love [name_m]Paul[/name_m]! It is a really handsome, strong name!

I have nephews with both names, so they are both strong and adorable at the same time. Depending on how they flow with the rest of the name you choose, I would select [name_m]Paul[/name_m] for the reasons other berries already stated.

We are not bothered at all by popularity as a whole. What matters more to us is the popularity of the name in our area and the people in direct contact with us day in and day out.

I don’t dislike [name_m]Paul[/name_m]. It’s a good study name. But I don’t love it either. To me it is a bit boring (perhaps because all of the Pauls that I know are middle aged?), but not displeasing. [name_m]Paul[/name_m] is probably one of those names that as soon as you know a baby or little boy with the name it becomes more lively.

[name_m]Paul[/name_m] is my favorite boys name. I love the name [name_m]David[/name_m], and both are family names, but there’s something about [name_m]Paul[/name_m] that seems especially handsome and solid. [name_m]Peter[/name_m]'s a superb choice too. Any of them would serve your son well in life.

To me [name_m]Paul[/name_m] is a bit middle aged and balding, but it’s not a bad name and it is a classic, so it makes a stylish choice and isn’t overpopular atm.
