My husbands name is [name_m]Paul[/name_m], would it be too much for us to name a baby girl a variant of [name_m]Paul[/name_m]…like [name_f]Paulette[/name_f], [name_f]Pauline[/name_f], or [name_f]Paula[/name_f]?
Also I was looking in my family history and found 7 generations of (dutch) Henricka’s in a row…is there an easy variant of that? Henricka just seems a bit much.
and last anyone have any thoughts on [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], louisa, twyla, frieda…all are names I am considering but I need some outside feedback. luckily we have a few months
I’m not a big fan of paula or its variations except maybe [name_f]Paola[/name_f] (POW-LA) a spanish variation!
Maybe as a middle name of for a boy?
Henricka is a little much but again I dont mind Henrick for a boy!
I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] sylvia, [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] is great, I dont mind [name_f]Twyla[/name_f] but prefer [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and Im not a fan of [name_f]Frieda[/name_f]!
I love the idea of honoring 7 generations of women in your family-- Henricka might be a bit much (not sure where you reside), but perhaps [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] with the nn [name_f]Etta[/name_f]?
As for feminizations of [name_m]Paul[/name_m], personally I think it’s a lovely gesture but might be confusing in your home and in public.
I really like [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] as well. [name_f]Freida[/name_f] might work for a middle perhaps?
You could alway use [name_f]Henrika[/name_f] (hen-ree-kah) or Henrike (hen-ree-keh) which sound less “harsh” due to not having the rick sound. [name_f]Paula[/name_f] I’ve never been a fan of the English pronunciation of this one. I like the [name_m]Pau[/name_m]- (au like the ou in ouch) lah pronunciation better which I think is closer to [name_f]Paola[/name_f] in English. You would also have [name_m]Paul[/name_m] not right in there while the name would clearly be honoring.
I second the suggestion of [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]! I suggest to avoid confusion use a veriant of [name_m]Paul[/name_m] as a middle name [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] [name_f]Pauline[/name_f] would be gorgeous! Although if you are really attached to using a form of [name_m]Paul[/name_m] as a first name I would swoon if I met sisters named [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f], [name_f]Pauline[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. [name_f]Etta[/name_f], [name_f]Polly[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], and [name_u]Lou[/name_u]
