After months of looking, I finally announced to my husband that I wanted to name our son [name]Paxton[/name]. (He picked out the name for our daughter.) My husband immediately said, “That sounds a lot like Broxton,” my nephew’s name. (My brother and wife only live an hour away, but we only see them a couple times a year. My husband hasn’t even met Broxton yet and he is now 5 months old.)
Is [name]Paxton[/name] too close to Broxton?
If I want to name my son [name]Paxton[/name], do I need to ask my brother and his wife first?
[name]Do[/name] you think I will get flak from my family?
If you love it, use it! When I first read it I thought your nephew was named [name]Braxton[/name]. I think it is okay, especially if you do not see him that often. The boys will probably think it is cool when they get older
I agree. I think it’s fine. It’s different enough that they won’t both turn their heads when you call one of their names. If it bothers you, then you can ask your brother first. I’m sure they would be fine with it, or at least say they are.
your family shouldn’t give you trouble about it the end of the name is not as confusing as the beginning of the Name if you like the name [name_u]Paxton[/name_u] I would name my child [name_u]Paxton[/name_u]…P. S. I’m partial to the name is my grandsons n[name_f]AME[/name_f] and he is absolutely sweet is he can bE and we also leaving Broxton [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
What even is Broxton? I think [name_u]Paxton[/name_u] is fine. If you want to make it less trendy, drop the -ton and name him [name_u]Pax[/name_u]. It means “peace” in Latin.
It seems fine to me simply because the nicknames will probably be the first syllable of each child’s name so it isn’t similar at all! It’d be very different if you wanted to name your son Broxson (totally made up for this example!).
