Summary
Couldn’t sleep, so my mind was abuzz with more ideas! Also, wanted to mention that despite the unsavory biblical associations, both the names Adriel and Eli have good, strong meanings which is why I suggested them anyways. Some sources say Adriel means “flock of God.” And I noticed that using Iris as a first would start a color theme so I would personally avoid that!
More ideas for boys:
-
Amias Jasper or Jasper Amias “loved; bringer of treasure” or vice versa.
-
Eli Jasper or Jasper Eli “my God; bringer of treasure” or vice versa.
-
Jasper Clemens or Clemens Jasper “bringer of treasure; merciful” or vice versa.
(The riches of God’s mercy & lovingkindness—both things to rejoice in and meant to bring men to repentance, which in turn produces true inner peace and the unmatched joy of reconciliation with the Father). Also Jasper is a nature name and has rich biblical symbolism.
Summary
You can read about the bible symbolism here:
Topical Bible: Jasper
- Hawthorne Clemens or Clemens Hawthorne “[my shelter/protection/providence & strength]; merciful”
(God, in His mercy, offers providence & protection, and He is the disciple’s strength. The hawthorn is [apparently] one of the most durable of trees. It acts as an important source of food and shelter/safe nesting for certain bird species—reminiscent of God providing for even the sparrows and the ravens. Again, a thing of joy and a symbol of the peace found in His care.)
- Amos Hawthorne “carried by God; [my shelter/protection/providence & strength]”
(Again, can be representative of joy and peace.)
- Abel Hawthorne “breath; shelter/protection/providence & strength”
(All come from God, are reasons to rejoice, & be at peace in the knowledge of His lovingkindness).
- Florin Hawthorne or Florian Hawthorne “flourishing; [my shelter/protection/providence & strength]“
(Same ideas as above.)
- Jude Hawthorne or Judah Hawthorne
Hawthorne Jude or Hawthorne Judah “praised; [my] shelter/protection/providence & strength”
(Through Jesus, the lion of Judah, all are offered redemption and reconciliation to the Father who provides shelter/protection/nourishment & strength. He is worthy of our praise and it brings the disciple joy and peace to praise Him.)
- Eli Hawthorne “my God; [my shelter/protection/providence & strength]“
(Same ideas.)
- Adriel Hawthorne or Hawthorne Adriel “God is my master/flock of God; [my shelter/protection/providence & strength]”
(Same ideas, plus hawthorns are often used as hedges—in Job, Satan accuses Job of being faithful to God only because of God’s hand in his life “ 10Have You not [i]made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.” As with Job, God provides a “hedge of protection” for all His flock; those who “know Him and are known by Him”; those who “hear His voice and follow Him”; those who call Him “master.” Joy & peace are found within His safe pastures.
- Balin Amos or Amos Balin “mighty sword; carried by God”
(References Psalm 45 & the “sword of the Spirit”/Word of God. By division from the fallen world and reconciliation to the Father, crucifying the flesh and fighting the “good fight of faith,” soldiering on in spiritual battle, disciples are carried safely through this dark world with a peace and joy that surpasses all earthly pleasures and strivings. Also, disciples are to be “instruments of His righteousness” and to “do justly,” which requires walking in the Spirit/living by His Word [carrying the Sword]). So disciples themselves are (in a sense) “mighty swords” as well, just as the disciple has a “light that shines before men” by walking in the light and being bearers of Christ.
- Adriel Sage or Sage Adriel “God is my master/flock of God; wise”
(Wisdom & honor are from the Lord & He gives of these riches liberally—His people are blessed continually by inclining their ears to His Word, which is always wise. Following His statutes out of faith & love for Him brings inner joy & peace.)
-
Florin Sage or Sage Florin
-
Florian Sage or Sage Florian
-
Prosper Sage or Sage Prosper
“flourishing/prosper; wise” (Following His statutes out of faith & love for Him brings inner joy, peace & flourishing/prospering)
- Lev Solomon “heart peace/lion peace”
(Creates a sober & striking balance between the Christian aspects of war & peace—Jesus is both the lion & the lamb—He came to bring a sword; following Him causes division/severing from the fallen world, old selves, slavery to sin & death, severing from the flesh’s over-indulgences, and brings about the inner peace that causes truly selfless goodwill and unity towards fellow man [an overflow of peace from the source of peace]).
- Othniel Solomon or Solomon Othniel “lion of God/strength of God; peace”
(Same as above.)
- Amias Rohan or Rohan Amias “loved; [oil of gladness]”
(I found an interesting connection for Rohan “sandalwood” [or Rohana/Rohanna for a girl]! In the bible, “aloes” is [apparently] a reference to sandalwood. In Psalm 45 it is mentioned following a verse about the “oil of gladness.” Also, didn’t have time to check this out but if it’s true that sandalwood was one of the oils used for Jesus’ anointing/embalming then it echoes the psalm and the joy of His resurrection because He conquered death by the power of God’s Spirit so despite the utter travesty of His crucifixion, there was an unforeseen [by His disciples] joy that was realized upon His rising triumphantly. Through His affliction and sufferings, we receive freedom and gladness of heart, which causes us to have gratitude and a willingness to share in His afflictions/suffer as He suffered for us.)
Summary
1My heart is overflowing with a good theme;
I recite my composition concerning the King;
My tongue is the pen of a [c]ready writer.
2You are fairer than the sons of men;
Grace is poured upon Your lips;
Therefore God has blessed You forever.
3[d]Gird Your sword upon Yourthigh, O Mighty One,
With Your glory and Your majesty.
4And in Your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness;
And Your right hand shall teach You awesome things.
5Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the King’s enemies;
The peoples fall under You.
6Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;
A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
7You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.
8All Your garments are scentedwith myrrh and aloes and cassia,
Out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made You glad.
9Kings’ daughters are among Your honorable women;
At Your right hand stands the queen in gold from Ophir.
