Now that we’ve picked [name]Pearl[/name] as our little girl’s name, we’re ready to move on to the middle!
We always honor someone with middle name choices…
[name]Elise[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] (after my mom)
[name]Marie[/name] [name]Gretchen[/name] (after my middle name (marie) and my husband’s grandma)
[name]Clara[/name] [name]James[/name] (after my hubby)
We’ve decided we want to honor my dad ([name]Gerald[/name], goes by [name]Jerry[/name])
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name]
or
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Jerri[/name]
What do you think? I’m open to other variations on the names!
Hmm, to be honest [name]Geraldine[/name] isn’t my favourite, but for the fact it honours your father I think it’s a lovely choice. I really am pro honouring and names with meaning in the middle spot over names that just sound nice. I also found [name]Geralda[/name] which I thought was interesting, a Spanish variation.
Does your father have a middle name?
Also are you doing 2 middles again? I noticed that so far you’ve honoured twice on your side of the family and twice on your hubbys side, so it might be nice to do one middle after your father and 1 middle after someone in your hubbys family to keep the balance. Unless of course you think you may have more children in future in which case it doesn’t really matter. [name]Just[/name] a thought anyway!
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name] definitely has a certain vintage charm, I just would have preferred something softer with [name]Pearl[/name]. Would you consider other G names? [name]Giselle[/name], [name]Gisela[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Ginevra[/name], [name]Georgina[/name] etc? I suppose they don’t honour as directly as you have in the past so probably aren’t the best idea.
I like [name]Geraldine[/name] a lot and [name]Pearl[/name] is lovely not quite so sure of the flow of [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name]. The flow is better as [name]Geraldine[/name] [name]Pearl[/name].
You mentioned [name]Jem[/name] but [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Jem[/name] is almost “[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Jam[/name]” so that may be a problem.
I think [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name] is lovely. I really like the 1-3 syllable pattern in first and middle names. Honoring is more important than flow.
[name]Geraldine[/name] over [name]Jerri[/name] times 1000. It´s old fashioned and comforting. I think she will feel honoured to have a sophisticated middle name like [name]Geraldine[/name].
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name] is a lovely combo with loads of vintage charm and character. It’s wonderful to see two underappreciated names get the recognition they deserve!
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name]. I don’t like the name [name]Geraldine[/name], but as a mn for honoring dad it’s great. [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Jerri[/name] just doesn’t sound right - vintage name plus 60s nickname name.
Go with [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name]. [name]Jerri[/name] as a middle name would ruin [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Geraldine[/name] is at least feminine and I like that it clearly honours your father.
Agreed with [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name]. I’m not sure I love the name [name]Geraldine[/name], but it could grow on me. And I love that it honors family. [name]Pearl[/name] is gorgeous!
Thanks all! I am on board with so many of you - not in [name]LOVE[/name] with [name]Geraldine[/name], but I do love that it honors my dad. I keep trying to think of alternatives…
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geralyn[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldina[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name] Jeraine
Nothing stands out as perfectly lovely, but I don’t want to give up the idea of honoring her grampa.
[name]Jerrileen[/name], [name]Gerianne[/name], [name]Gerilynn[/name], [name]Geralyn[/name], [name]Jeralee[/name], and [name]Gerrilee[/name] are all acceptable derivative of [name]Geraldine[/name] according to Nameberry without sounding dated and, honestly, totally masculine next to the lovely and iridescent [name]Pearl[/name]. My choice would be [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Jeralee[/name].
Oh my goodness! Thanks so much for posting all of these options! This is exactly what I was hoping for in asking the question. Now I feel like my husband and I have so much more material to work with.
I like [name]Geraldine[/name] and I am surprised with the rise of [name]Beatrice[/name], and [name]Agnes[/name] of all names, [name]Geraldine[/name] hasn’t gotten any love.
