I love [name]Nellie[/name]!
[name]Pearl[/name] would be my pick! [name]Nellie[/name] is cute but it’s often used as a derogatory term for an “effeminate male”. Is she a Welsh or English [name]Springer[/name] Spaniel?
She’s an English [name]Springer[/name] Spaniel - I’ve never heard an “effeminate” man being called a [name]Nelly[/name]! Are you from the UK?

I like both names, but for some reason the idea of “[name]Pearl[/name]” for an ESS is delightful. [name]Nelly[/name] is a good name – the name of a friend’s cat. It’s old-fashioned, like [name]Molly[/name] (a great but over-used dog name). But [name]Pearl[/name] is – a surprise – and yet so perfect for a [name]Springer[/name].
Also, [name]Nelly[/name] is an old, old hunting dog name that has been so over-used it is hard to imagine it being fresh again – ever.
Are you only interested in those two or are you open to suggestions?
The breeder told me the dog wouldn’t respond well to [name]Pearl[/name] so we went with [name]Nellie[/name] but now I’ve got a full-blown case of [name]Namer[/name]'s Remorse! She’s still a puppy, of course, so we could change it but the everyone would think me mad.
