I’m really growing fond of [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] myself, but we’re having a hard time finding a nn and, knowing both of us, we will likely call her by a nn most of the time.
We like [name_f]Winifred[/name_f], but disagree on nn’s. I love [name_m]Fred[/name_m] for a little girl, it’s not overused and it’s spunky. He prefers [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] or [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]?
nn for [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]?
[name_m]Fred[/name_m] or [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]?
I really like both and maybe [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] only slightly more. If I had a little [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] I’m sure I’d call them Pee. If I had a [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] I’d probably call them [name_u]Win[/name_u] but I like [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] and [name_m]Fred[/name_m] too. You could also use [name_m]Fred[/name_m] and [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] interchangeably, lots of people have multiple NN’s.
I have a soft spot for [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. Nn could be [name_f]Pearlie[/name_f]/[name_f]Pearly[/name_f]. [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is nms, but still nice. I agree with bedhead you could use more than one nn. I, personally, would prefer [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] to [name_m]Fred[/name_m].
Oh, unless you already have a mn picked out, the suggestion of using both, as in [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], is sweet!
Definitely prefer [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] to [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], love the sassy yet still sweet aspects of [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]. [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is incredibly drab, imo. I’d vote for nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], as well. [name_m]Fred[/name_m] not only sounds masculine and bland, but its simple nature also completely takes away from how special the full name [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is. If anything, I’d suggest livening it up a bit by making it [name_f]Freddi[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] <3 It is more elegant than Winifred, and has just as much vintage appeal. Nicknames: Pella, Polly, Pear, Pelly, and Pele.
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. I love it.
I just don’t think [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is ready for revival. It was my great grandmothers name…she hated it and went by [name_f]Molly[/name_f]. I only found out her real name was [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] when I visited her in hospital. I just can’t imagine its a name a little girl or young woman would like to have.
I love the name [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], but prefer the nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] ([name_f]Winifred[/name_f] isn’t my style). So overall, I think [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] gets my vote!
I prefer [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] by a mile! [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] to me is vintage and delicate, but still sounds strong. [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is still a little too clunky. It has the lovely nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], but that still isn’t enough to redeem the name for me. I would definitely use [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] over [name_m]Fred[/name_m] if you end up choosing [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] nn Pea (or P) is adorable. Other ones I can think of: [name_f]Pearlie[/name_f], [name_u]Early[/name_u], or PJ if you choose a J middle name.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]! I’m very jealous because my husband and I love it and it just doesn’t work with our last name. I like [name_u]Win[/name_u]/[name_f]Winnie[/name_f] and [name_m]Fred[/name_m]/[name_u]Freddie[/name_u] equally - I think one of those nicknames would definitely nominate itself over the other as her personality develops. [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is a great full name. [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] has its virtues as a first name too, but I don’t like it nearly as much as [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]. (We are nicknamers too - though the most used nicknames have turned out to be faaaar removed from the kids’ actual names. You would find one that works for [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] are two of my most favorite names. But my favorite is [name_f]Winifred[/name_f]. I don’t hate nn [name_m]Fred[/name_m], but I really don’t like it. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]!
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f] by a mile! I personally find the sound of [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] very unappealing (it’s just [name_m]Earl[/name_m] with a P.) [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] is quirky, energetic, feminine and strong. I love [name_m]Fred[/name_m] and [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] as nicknames—I think [name_m]Fred[/name_m] would be better for a bold kid while [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] would suit someone more gentle or shy.
