I’m loving the name [name]Pearl[/name], although I’m far from decided. I’m super indecisive this time around! Wondering about how it goes with my sibset…
[name]Elise[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] ([name]Margaret[/name] is after my mom, but means “pearl”)
[name]Marie[/name] [name]Gretchen[/name] ([name]Gretchen[/name] is after my husband’s grandma, but once again means “pearl”)
[name]Clara[/name] [name]James[/name] ([name]James[/name] is my husband’s name)
and
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name] (after my dad [name]Gerald[/name])
I really like [name]Pearl[/name] - and the connection to my mothers name which is [name]Margaret[/name]. It offers a pretty image, is vintage without being overly fusty. I had it in a middle name list for our 3rd daughter (due in [name]May[/name]!) but dh shot it down saying I wasn’t giving birth to a grandma - what a charmer!
The thing is vintage is very much in at the moment but [name]Pearl[/name] definitely isn’t all that popular - as yet? Is one of the more neglected but usable precious stone names.
I think it goes well with your other girls - though my obsession with equal name length would mean I’d want a 2 syllable one in the first name place lol but that’s just me! I think it’s lovely that you have a family name connection with each of your girls names. I only managed that with no.1 and did change it a little!
Are there any other [name]Pearl[/name] meaning names that you would consider?
We absolutely loved [name]Pearl[/name] too. So we’re naming our 2nd daughter, due in 5-6 weeks, [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]. It’s a sweet name and not overuse, but I think it’s starting to come back in style. There has been lots of talk about this name.
It fits perfectly with your other girls! Great job!
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]!! But Im biased bc its my dds mn K@i@ F3licity [name]Pearl[/name] She was named for my mom (pearl is her nn) and my grandma [name]Margaret[/name]
I think [name]Pearl[/name] is a sweet name full of vintage charm. It certainly goes well with your sibset of [name]Elise[/name], [name]Marie[/name] and [name]Clara[/name].
Thanks for the good feedback! becalm, my dh also said that the only Pearls he knows of are probably old ladies in rest homes, but hasn’t shot the name down (yet!). Also, I was already obsessing about name length - note every one of them is 5 letters, and eventually decided I had to give the 2 syllable thing up. Slootymama and karenp, I [name]LOVE[/name] your kids names, and seeing how [name]Pearl[/name] is working for others makes me like it more
[name]Jamie[/name]
I’m not a fan of [name]Pearl[/name], I see the same thing your DH does. I do think it goes quite nicely with your sibset, though, and do remember they grow into separate adults for the larger portion of their lives so it doesn’t matter much anyways.
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name] is very pretty:) If you want a two syllable name, how about [name]Perla[/name]? It’s the Italian version of [name]Pearl[/name] I believe, and I think [name]Perla[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name] would be pretty as well:)
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I think I’m almost ready to throw the name out there to a few people in the “real world” and see their reaction. I’m really loving the name! Plus, I would be “Mother of [name]Pearl[/name]” and who wouldn’t want that?!
