What are everyone’s thoughts on [name]Pearl[/name]? I love it- but I know it still has an old lady reputation.
I don’t think it’s an “old lady” name at all. I think it’s classic!
My grandma’s name is [name]Pearl[/name], but she’s feisty and active and funny, so I still don’t see it as old lady, even though she’s in her 80’s. Her whole name is [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Alice[/name], which I think is fantastic.
I love [name]Pearl[/name]! It’s so quirky and sweet, but I think it will age nicely.
I like [name]Pearl[/name]! I like it quite a bit, but I’m a bit fussy as to where I like to see it used. I’m not a huge fan of it as a FN–for some reason it seems to be very old-lady still as a FN, but as a MN I find it more refreshing. I have [name]Liliana[/name] [name]Odette[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] on my list, [name]Pearl[/name] for my sister–it’s her birthstone.
I think I like the Spanish [name]Perla[/name] more as a FN. I know a little girl named [name]Perla[/name], and she’s adorable.
[name]Pearl[/name] has a lot going for it - it’s a gem, it’s one-syllable, it’s sweet and vintage but has a underlying sassiness which I love. If that’s not enough, it has literary and musical associations (Ms. [name]Buck[/name] and Ms. [name]Bailey[/name]). What’s not to love about [name]Pearl[/name]?
It’s OK, but I think of Mr. Crab’s daughter (Spongebob)
I agree- thanks ladies. It’s definitely on my short list! I am thinking [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Louise[/name] as a middle name, but the problem is that our middle name starts with “S” so-her initials would be PMS- ha!
What about separating [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Louise[/name] into two distinct names? [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Mary[/name] [name]Louise[/name] S____? Then her initials would be PMLS, not as bad.
I love [name]Pearl[/name]! I like that the name is simple but elegant, feels sweet and vintage but still fresh.
I like [name]Pearl[/name] a lot… it does have a bit of the old lady reputation, but I feel like it’s getting more in to the “what’s old is new and cool again” category. Also, the more little Rubys and Lilys that pop up, the more people will be accepting of other, less-used gem and flower names. [name]Ramona[/name] is one of my favourites for girls names and I’ve definitely been thinking about [name]Ramona[/name] [name]Pearl[/name].
I really don’t get the resurgence of this name. It still screams old lady to me.
I love [name]Pearl[/name]. I don’t think of Mr. Krab’s daugter, I think of the pretty name. It never seemed like much of an old lady name to me, I think it’s fresh and new again. I know someone named [name]Perla[/name], but she ruined the name for me (she was way too loud, and if someone said her name wrong, she would shout “Ewww, my name is [name]Perla[/name], not [name]Pearl[/name]. That’s a stupid old lady name, B****.” Pleasent, right?) So I like [name]Pearl[/name] much, much more.

[name]Pearl[/name] is poised to burst upon the name scene…
[name]Love[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]. We just named our daughter [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Pearl[/name].
