Pearl

[name_f]My[/name_f] partner just suggested the name [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it! [name_f]Do[/name_f] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] “Theo” and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] go well together as siblings? I love [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and its meaning is pearl. Would you prefer [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] with the nn [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] or [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] by itself? Thank you!

[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is gorgeous!

I love [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] she’s elegant, simplistic, charming and feels wise. I think [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is the ultimate little black dress name. I loved the idea of having [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as one of my daughter’s middle names to honour a [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] but was vetoed by my partner. Anyways I think [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is beautiful. I think [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] makes a wonderful sister name for The0dore very nostalgic pair. I like both [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] + [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] they are gorgeous very timeless. However I think I prefer [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] just because she has a more melodic sound. I also think [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] is a very stretchy nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. I think unless you’re aware of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] meaning which most people wouldn’t be as people just do not pay attention to things like that it wouldn’t be intuitive. I do feel that because [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] has so many obvious nicknames it would be a stretch to go with [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as the nickname.
So I would be inclined to use [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as it’s a name you and your partner agree on.

I had a baby [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] in 2023! So my answer will be biased  I have loved having a [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. IMO, it’s classic without being overused, it’s dignified, and it has SO many nickname options. You could definitely use [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], as you mentioned. Other nn options include [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Meg[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Madge[/name_f], [name_f]Peggy[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Margie[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Margo[/name_f], etc.

I do like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], but it does have an older image association for me I just can’t shake. I love the versatility of all the nicknames for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], because I figure as my daughter grows up, if she doesn’t like the nickname we call her, she has many other options to choose from, including using [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] in full, especially in a professional setting. With [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], that is just the name, so there aren’t as many options.

I also think that [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] go excellent together. They are both three syllables, have the “t” consonant in there, and are a similar style.

So in summary, I do like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], but I prefer [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Pearl[/name_f].

I enjoyed reading your thoughts! To add to your comment about [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] being a “nostalgic pair,” I do think that this pairing gives the sibling set a more vintage/retro/quirky vibe. I think [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] has more of an old fashioned, but classic vibe. So maybe that could influence your decision as well. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you want to move in a quirky vintage direction? [name_u]Or[/name_u] a classic/timeless direction?

Both [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] ans [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] are so beautiful. I think [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] has lovely connotations of vintage charm and beach walks for me which makes it refreshingly attractive for a little girl. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] work well together style wise, the only issue I would see is maybe the lengths are a bit unbalanced but unless that’s something you really care about I would go with [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as that’s the name you both agreed on and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is destined to be shortened to one of her more common nicknames.

Oh, I like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. I worked with a little girl named [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] (20 years ago - she’d be about 28 now, which is a bit scary to think about!). At the time I thought of [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] as an old lady name, but, oh my goodness, how it livened up being on a little girl!

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] make a great set. I do like it as a nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], but I think it stands on its own perfectly.

I love [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]! I wish I hear it more often. I think both can work, but I lean ever so slightly towards [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] since it’s a longer name like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and it can be shortened to [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] can be shortened to [name_u]Theo[/name_u].

Oh my gosh congratulations on your baby Margar3t! I do love the name she’s very classic. I had to respond and say that I do love Margar3t. [name_f]My[/name_f] friend has a daughter born august 2021 named Margar3t-R0se so she has a double barrel first name and is known as P3ggy- R0se. It’s very sweet and suits my friends girl perfectly. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite nickname is [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] though. I think [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] is very sweet.

I like [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] and think it’s vintage cute with [name_u]Theo[/name_u] - but I don’t think it sparkles (lol) in my Australian accent where the L can get swallowed. I also prefer the name [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] so I personally would choose [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. :sparkles:

Aw, thank you so much!! Peggy-Rose is too cute! Our LO goes by [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], and sometimes [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] (her middle name). She is also affectionately known as “Mags magoo,” “Maggie mags,” “sad little bean,” “bright eyes,” and “Sir magsmus magoop a schmoop” by various family members :joy:

I love [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]! I think she’s be really sweet as a nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] (Theo) and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (Pearl) are simply wonderful together! That said, I think I love [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] all on her own most of all. Either way, an absolute win!
