We’re honoring my dad, [name]Gerald[/name] (goes by [name]Jerry[/name]) by giving our daughter [name]Pearl[/name] (due in [name]July[/name]) a version of his name as her middle name.
I was thinking [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name], which I honestly didn’t love, but thanks to many of you berries I now have a fresh selection of [name]Gerald[/name]/[name]Jerry[/name] middle options. What do you think??
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name] - the most classic on my list. I like it but don’t love it.
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geranium[/name] - I like [name]Geranium[/name], it’s more of a stretch, but might work.
[name]Pearl[/name] Geralee
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Jerrica[/name] (or [name]Jerica[/name]/Gerrica/Jericca) - just saw this one on someone else’s question about unique names. Of course it stood out to me because it’s like [name]Jerry[/name]. A new name (combo of [name]Jeri[/name] and [name]Erica[/name]?) but has a fresh, fun sound.
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geralynne[/name]
I’ve ruled out [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Jeri[/name], as one berry put it, it’s a classic name with a newer nick name. It just doesn’t work.
[name]Ive[/name] never heard of jerrica outside of jem and the holograms so I don’t find it very usable. They’ve started airing the cartoon on tv again and there is talk of a remake. I think the more familiar people are with the name again the more teasing potential [name]IMO[/name]
I might be biased because my friend recently got a fish and named it jerrica [name]Benton[/name] so I have a hard time taking it seriously.
I would go with [name]Geraldine[/name] (I had an aunt named this!) or something similar.
Thanks for the feedback! I had never even heard of [name]Jem[/name] and the Holograms until I started trying to research [name]Jerrica[/name]! Another name I just came across is [name]Gerianna[/name]… I kind of like it if it’s pronounced [name]Jerry[/name] - ah-na.
What is your dad’s middle name? That might be easier to work with. Honestly, I like [name]Pearl[/name] better in the middle name slot. To honor your dad, what about [name]Gemma[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]? I really love this. I also love your other girls’ names.
My favorite is [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name]. I love the name [name]Pearl[/name], and while I don’t love the name [name]Geraldine[/name], I think the family significance of it outweighs that. [name]Jerrica[/name] just doesn’t sound right with the classic [name]Pearl[/name].
Thanks for the feedback! My dad’s middle name is [name]Michael[/name]. That makes [name]Michaela[/name] an easy middle name, but I’m really hoping to somehow fall in love with a version of his first name, as all the other girls have middle names that are directly from people
[name]Elise[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] - my mom’s name
[name]Marie[/name] [name]Gretchen[/name] - hubby’s grandma’s name
[name]Clara[/name] [name]James[/name] - my husband’s name
I’ve still got plenty of time (she’s due in [name]July[/name]) to let some of the names grow on me. I do love [name]Gemma[/name] [name]Pearl[/name], but when I put [name]Gemma[/name] on my list, my husband immediately vetoed it
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name] is lovely - like that it’s not at all trendy etc But I think like you I’d have trouble loving the name [name]Geraldine[/name] too.
It also goes well with your other girls names being lovely and classic.
That said I’m not sure any of the others work as well as [name]Geraldine[/name] does in the middle spot. But at least in the middle you could go for something a bit different and out there but be safer because it’s not out in front.
[name]Jerrica[/name] is interesting
[name]Geraldina[/name] is probably too much of a mouthful?
I’m not a fan of [name]Jerrica[/name]. The [name]Jerrica[/name] I know is very trashy, so I don’t see the name as fun or fresh… just trashy. [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name] is so classy and sophisticated. [name]Imo[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name] is the only name that truly honors your dad ([name]Gerald[/name]). The others are too much of a stretch for me.
I like:
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geralyn[/name] (prefer this spelling) or
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Germaine[/name]
I understand why youre having difficulty loving [name]Geraldine[/name]. I like [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geralynne[/name] or [name]Pearl[/name] Geralanne. Have you tried spelling them with a J instead. [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Jerilyn[/name] is pretty, I think.
[name]Jerica[/name] is not new, it comes from [name]Jericho[/name]. It is biblical and lovely! I knew a [name]Jerica[/name] growing up and she was a wonderful person.
[name]Jericho[/name] is biblical, yes, but it was a city destroyed and cursed by God. I wouldnt want to give a name to a child with that negative association.
I like the suggestion of [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Jerilyn[/name]! I grew up with a girl named [name]Jerilyn[/name] and she was a smart, gorgeous, sweet girl so the name has great associations for me. I think it sounds great with [name]Pearl[/name] too. [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name] is also nice since it directly honors your father.
[name]Pearl[/name] [name]Jerrica[/name] isn’t bad, though I prefer the [name]Jerica[/name] spelling as its cleaner and feels more legit. I like the idea of [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geranium[/name], its not a name I’d like in the first name spot, but it actually makes a cool middle name and is nice and creative way to honour a [name]Gerald[/name].
I agree with others that [name]Pearl[/name] [name]Geraldine[/name] still sounds the best, even though I don’t love the name [name]Geraldine[/name]. I think [name]Pearl[/name] needs a vintage or classic middle name to go with it.
