[name_f]My[/name_f] husband loves the name [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] for a future baby to go with our daughter [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. However our surname is very P heavy [name_f][/name_f]- think [name_m]Pellegrino[/name_m][name_f][/name_f] (as close as I can get without saying the actual name)
[name_f][/name_f]
Is this a bit much?? I like alliterative names but it’s the repetition of the “Pe” sound that worries me. Middle name would probably be [name_f]Joan[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]
[name_m]General[/name_m] thoughts on the combo [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Joan[/name_f] very welcome too! (Sibset with [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] Frances)
I love [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Joan[/name_f] and think it makes a great sister name to [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]!
[name_f][/name_f]
That said, I do think [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_m]Pellegrino[/name_m] is a little “too much” – moreso than the shared Pe- beginning, it’s that there’s also the repetition of the N and L sounds in both names. Something like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_m]Perrin[/name_m], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_m]Peterson[/name_m], or [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] Pereira wouldn’t bother me as much. (let me know if you want me to delete the examples if they’re too close to the actual surname!)
[name_f][/name_f]
If you decide [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is too close, some similar ideas you might like are: [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Melody[/name_f], [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f], [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f], or [name_f]Nellie[/name_f]
Unfortunately I do think it’s a bit close, especially if the nickname “Pee Pee” would be obvious phonetically. It’s really beautiful but maybe just not the one with your last name. [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_m]Francis[/name_m] is an amazing name by the way!
[name_f][/name_f]
Some others you may like: [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Joan[/name_f]: This is my favorite alternative. It’s so good with [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and still offers alliteration without the Pe repetition! [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Joan[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Philippa[/name_f] [name_f]Joan[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Joan[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Joan[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- I like this one a lot too, it’s got cute alliteration with [name_f]Joan[/name_f] and has a lot of great nickname options like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f][name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Joan[/name_f]
I dont mind [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] Pelligrino, it has a nice flow and I dont think its too close to be usable. (And I love [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] & Penelope!)
[name_f][/name_f]
It does give maybe a slight ‘character’ vibe (think [name_f]Pepper[/name_f] Potts, [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Parker[/name_m], [name_m]Bruce[/name_m] [name_m]Banner[/name_m] etc) but I personally dont think thats a big red flag.
Hopefully this isn’t offensive, but when I read the title of this thread I thought this was referring to a cartoon character. So yes, I think it’s too much with your last name.
