Penn...for a girl?

What are your thoughts on using the nn “[name_m]Penn[/name_m]” for a girl named [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] or maybe even [name_u]Spencer[/name_u]?

Thoughts on [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] for a girl in a sibset with [name_m]Tanner[/name_m], [name_u]August[/name_u], and [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] (g)?

I don’t care for [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] for a girl and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is sooo feminine next to a sister named [name_u]Oakley[/name_u]. I think that [name_m]Penn[/name_m] is a perfectly usable name for a girl, I don’t see it being particularly masculine (I actually went to high school with a girl named [name_m]Penn[/name_m] so maybe that’s why). I would use [name_m]Penn[/name_m] as the given name not a nickname.

Hmm…
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is a lovely name! [name_m]Tanner[/name_m], [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_u]Oakley[/name_u], and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] works so well together in a great southern sibling set. I dislike [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] though for both sexes.

: )

I think [name_m]Penn[/name_m] is a fine nickname for a girl. I don’t like [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] on a boy let alone on a girl, but [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] nn [name_m]Penn[/name_m] is cute. [name_m]Penn[/name_m] brings [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] back down to the rest of the sibset.

Maybe also [name_u]Penrose[/name_u]? It’s botanical like [name_u]Oakley[/name_u].

Really loving the suggestion of [name_u]Penrose[/name_u] for you! [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] seems too feminine next to the sort of ambiguous, naturey [name_u]Oakley[/name_u], but I would expect [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] to be one of [name_u]Oakley[/name_u]'s brothers, not a sister (especially with the more sensitive [name_u]August[/name_u]!). I think just [name_m]Penn[/name_m] is cool, too. I remember in LOST, [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] Widmore was called [name_u]Pen[/name_u] sometimes by [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], and I thought that was so much cooler than [name_u]Penny[/name_u]. Maybe it’s because I’d love to be a novelist one day, or because I’m originally from Pennsylvania, but I think just [name_m]Penn[/name_m] is really cool on either gender. And [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] and [name_m]Penn[/name_m] definitely work well for sisters!

Good luck!

Or how about:

[name_u]Aspen[/name_u]
Penda – means loved
Penia
[name_u]Penna[/name_u]

[name_m]Penn[/name_m]? Like pigpen, playpen, fountain pen and [name_m]Penn[/name_m] State? Sorry but I’m not feeling any love for [name_m]Penn[/name_m] for either gender. [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] already has two wonderful nn’s in [name_u]Penny[/name_u] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f] (my fave). [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] has the same ending as [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] and it’s much more feminine. [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] and [name_m]Tanner[/name_m] share the same ending. I think [name_u]Penrose[/name_u] and [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] as mentioned by previous posters would be a better “fit”. I think [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] would be great too.

As a nn for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] I don’t mind it, but on it’s own…
Sorta lends itself to pen is… jokes I’d imagine

I actully like the suggestion of [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], but my OCD starts kicking in when I think about having two kids with the same first letter and not the others! Hah! So I don’t know if I could do that.

I went to school with a girl nn [name_m]Penn[/name_m]. She rocked it.

I like [name_m]Penn[/name_m] for a girl (and for boys), but not so much as a nn for [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] doesn’t really work with your sibset [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. I love the suggestion of [name_u]Penrose[/name_u], but also think that [name_m]Penn[/name_m] could work on it’s on.

With your kids names [name_u]Penrose[/name_u] is adorable!
