People don't like Scarlet?

Ok everyone. I just watched a baby names video that talked about names that boomed and are now disliked. They said [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] was one. I’ve always said for years if I was ever to have a girl, that would be her name! Because, all my babies come out with flaming red hair (I have boys). Now I hear the name all the time but what are your opinions? Was this a name that people now feel is too overused? It does seem common. I work in L&D and saw two Scarlets in one month.

What would be your favorite names for a redheaded girl?

I love [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]! It used to be in my top 10 girls names but has recently fallen out but I still love it! I feel like people on NB don’t particularly like it though. I also think it’s perfect for a red headed girl! Another name perfect for a redhead is [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]!

I like [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f]! I don’t think it’s overused…

Scarlet is a great name! I have only met a couple in my life. Anything Irish or Scottish sounding sounds perfect for a redhead to me, such as [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], [name_f]Keira[/name_f] and [name_u]Delaney[/name_u]. [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] also come to mind.

I love [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f]!! I’ve just recently decided to put it on my list! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I personally wouldn’t name my red-headed baby based on their red hair, so I don’t really have an answer for that question. I’d just name them what I would’ve named them if they had been blonde or brunette or black-haired.

The sounds of it are just a bit harsh to my ears.

I like [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] fine, never known one. Dislike [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f].

Is there some amazing name that means fire, Fiamata or something like that?

I love [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f]! I actually know a little red haired [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] worms just fine. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] comes to mind, as does [name_f]Crimson[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f]! I’ve never met one (I’m from Midwest USA). Another good name for a little girl with red hair would be [name_u]Ember[/name_u]! like the embers of a fire :orange_heart:

Scarlet is harsh soundings to my ears. But that’s personal thing, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the name! It is rising in popularity, [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is in the top 100, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing

I dont like it much, but I prefer it with two t’s

I personally love [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f](t). The reasons I’ve heard for people not liking it are:

  1. Sounds harsh
  2. Reminds them of the book The [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] Letter
  3. They are afraid their kids’ nickname will be Scar.

I don’t like the “carl” sound in it. I’m more keen on this spelling, though. I don’t find it overused (especially this spelling).
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite names for a redhead girl is same with my favourites for any girl :woman_shrugging:

I think [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] (prefer [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]) is a lovely romantic name super pretty. Also if you love the name go for it ultimately does it really matter that some random YouTuber said that [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] isn’t popular amongst members of the general public who partook in a survey? If you love the name go it!

I think if I was going to name a child a name that was associated with being a redhead I would go with something Gaelic like [name_u]Rory[/name_u] or [name_f]Fenella[/name_f] that would definitely go or alternatively use a name that had a meaning associated with fire/red like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] or [name_u]Aidan[/name_u].

Scarlet is lovely
