So this weeked I got to meet a lot of new people… I found that a lot of these people had good, interesting names that you don’t hear too often and weren’t too unique or weird, but were a nice refresher from all the Madelines, alex’s, and [name]Taylor[/name]'s I know… So I would like to know the names of people who have you met with an intresting and refreshing name??
Here’s mine:
I was in gymboree (store, not studio) last week and there was an [name]Iva[/name] (4)n there with a brother named [name]Fred[/name] (baby)! I about flipped! Usually the boys of the 5 and under crowd tend to be [name]Ethan[/name], [name]Tyler[/name], [name]Owen[/name] etc so it was refreshing The family could have been tourists since this particular store is in a tiwn popular for travel but still…nice names. Also met a teenage girl named [name]Bernadette[/name] recently, she was beautiful and goes by her entire name, not [name]Bernie[/name] or anything. Very different from the normal teen girls names here!
I have a friend named [name]Christiaan[/name] (girl). I think it’s really cool. I’ve never heard [name]Christian[/name] on a girl (or spelled this way) but I recently found out [name]Christian[/name] was sometimes used on girls in Elizabethan times.
I also know a [name]Francesca[/name], [name]Tana[/name] and an [name]Anastasia[/name] which I really like.
@irmgard, if you really know someone with [name]Sirius[/name] as a first name my heart will do a dance of joy!
(And if you don’t mind my asking, is [name]Maren[/name] a boy or a girl?) =] I met a boy named “Marron” once and fell in love with the idea of it as a name, but for the life of me I have no idea how he spelled it… I should have asked.
I once volunteered in a hospital where there was a nurse named Rezenet (REH-zih-net), which I thought was a really pretty name. She was from the middle east, I can’t remember exactly where.
Our next door neighbor who moved away several months ago was, if I’m not mistaken, [name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Roxanne[/name] LN. She wasn’t too young either; maybe in her late thirties, early forties.

I used to know a family whose parents were of Slavic origin and they all had beautiful Slavic names! [name]One[/name] of them was named [name]Katarina[/name], and I really, really like that name now ;). There was also a [name]Dominic[/name], an [name]Anton[/name], and an [name]Amelie[/name].
Here are some names from my classes that I find refreshing:
