Pepita, Pepita... pumpkin eata?

I tend to be very all over the place when it comes to names. I work with kids and so very little seems off limits now: I added Excelsior to my boys’ list in [name_f]April[/name_f]. My top boy’s name is some arrangement of [name_u]Indiana[/name_u], [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], and [name_m]Moses[/name_m]. Here we are in [name_u]June[/name_u] and I love [name_f]Pepita[/name_f] wholly and infallibly.

With [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]’s revival, do we think [name_f]Pepita[/name_f] is viable? Given that it’s actually a Spanish diminutive of the [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]— crowd? Sounds like she could be a Miss [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Jr[/name_m].? [name_u]Pepper[/name_u], [name_m]Pip[/name_m], Pep, [name_u]Peppy[/name_u], [name_f]Pippa[/name_f], [name_f]Pita[/name_f] + Pumpkin all seem like natural nicknames, [name_f]Pepita[/name_f] travels well. I can picture a little [name_f]Pepita[/name_f] and a big [name_f]Pepita[/name_f], but what do we think?

Currently thinking about [name_f]Pepita[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Meliora[/name_f], which is a lot of name, yeah, but so is [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] [name_m]Moses[/name_m]/[name_u]Indiana[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_m]Moses[/name_m]/[name_m]Moses[/name_m] [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] so maybe my style is just A Lot.

What do you think? x

I agree with you that your style is A Lot.

I don’t see [name_f]Pepita[/name_f] going much of anywhere. It doesn’t feel stylistically flexible, to me, but rather stuck in dusty old Mexico from the 1800s, maybe. That style might be right up someone’s alley, but I don’t see it travelling well or having much of an upswing in popularity. And for me, the -ita ending is a definite diminutive, like [name_f]Katie[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Kate[/name_f] or [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]; I see it on a little kid but not so much an adult.

I don’t think it’s going to make a revival, however I do think the name is quite funky- Definitely brave, but not totally off-limits, if you get what I’m saying. [name_f]Pepita[/name_f] kind of reminds me of [name_u]Nikita[/name_u], which is a common name. I don’t believe a child with this name would have too many problems, and the potential nn of [name_m]Pip[/name_m] is quite cute.

Combos:

[name_f]Pepita[/name_f] [name_f]Ameline[/name_f]
[name_f]Pepita[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_f]Pepita[/name_f] [name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Pepita[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Pepita[/name_f] [name_f]Nordika[/name_f] ([name_f]Nordika[/name_f] is one of my fav GP haha, felt like including it)
[name_f]Pepita[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] / [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Pepita[/name_f] [name_f]Rosanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Pepita[/name_f] [name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
[name_f]Pepita[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Pepita[/name_f] [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] (Wow, this one sounds very Mexican, even though [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] isn’t a Mexican name, as far as I’m aware. Super cool though, [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] is right up there on my top girls names)
[name_f]Pepita[/name_f] [name_f]Tamara[/name_f]

Thank you for your honesty! The more I think about it, the more [name_f]Pepita[/name_f] seems like one of those pet names you can use for any name. (And I also really only love it when said peh-PEE-ta, nice and distinct in a Romance language accent, whereas I’m sure it’d get clipped to “puhpeeta” here). Anyone can be a little pumpkin seed, I suppose!

The A Lot thing follows suit, new girly love in line with [name_f]Pepita[/name_f] is [name_f]Sulola[/name_f], which somehow feels more wearable? Like, less snack mix, more sunshine?

I do really love [name_f]Pepita[/name_f] [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] though, my gooooooodness. Thank you!

I’m honestly not a big fan of the name [name_f]Pepita[/name_f]. I’ve never heard it anywhere and I’m glad sorry

I love [name_f]Sulola[/name_f]! I kind of see it as a fun version of [name_f]Lola[/name_f]. Also, accents totally make a hugeeee difference to the way we pronounce names! I’ve got an Icelandic accent, so my W’s sound like V’s- resulting in me having a strong dislike for names like ‘[name_m]William[/name_m]’ and ‘[name_f]Willow[/name_f].’ [name_f]Willow[/name_f] literally can sound like ;‘Villohv’ at times. I like your style, it’s interesting!

[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like the names, sorry hun maybe God will guide you!
