Pepper? Swoon or gag?

[name]Hi[/name] berries! What do you think of [name]Pepper[/name]???

I did the “Sibling for [name]West[/name]” post but have some updates, and thought a shorter more concise thread would be better than continuing on with the other one.

Ok so for boys, top choices are:
[name]Willoughby[/name] [name]Wilder[/name] [name]Roscoe[/name] French - [name]Wilder[/name]
[name]Wilder[/name] [name]Polk[/name] [name]Willoughby[/name] French - [name]Wilder[/name]

[name]Polk[/name] is a major family name on my husband’s side. Most famous one being [name]James[/name] [name]Knox[/name] [name]Polk[/name], president of the good ol u s of a  So I think that is fun to use. As you will see, boys are MUCH easier for me to pick than girls!

I am praying for twin girls so that I can split up my middle names, [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Isabel[/name], after both grandmothers. If not, I do want to use them for a girl even though they are essentially the same name. I had always wanted to call her [name]Isabel[/name] nn [name]Isi[/name], but given the popularity of that, I just can’t do it. In my other thread I suggested Mazarine, [name]Petra[/name], Sessa (Sessilee or [name]Elizabeth[/name]), or [name]Moxie[/name] (which I would love a long name for). The general consensus was [name]Petra[/name] won, BUT now my husband is saying he does not like it. Boooo! I still love Sessa too.

So here is my idea: use [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] _____ French and call her the 3rd name. I still get to officially name her [name]Isabel[/name], but can throw in something fun and spunky to call her. Thoughts? Suggestions? (It could be [name]Isabel[/name] ____ [name]Elizabeth[/name] - whatever sounds better).

So what about…[name]PEPPER[/name]? Shockingly my huz isn’t completely opposed. I love names like this but usually he does not. He has nixed [name]Coco[/name], [name]Clementine[/name], and [name]Plum[/name]. Any suggestions that have the feel of [name]Pepper[/name]? [name]Do[/name] you even like it? [name]Pepper[/name] French. I think it rocks, but maybe I am not thinking clearly

[name]Magnolia[/name] nn [name]Moxie[/name] I still adore, but that is quite a stretch to get [name]Moxie[/name]. Is it odd to use [name]Moxie[/name] on its own? [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Moxie[/name] French? Not too sure about that.

[name]West[/name] and [name]Pepper[/name].
Am I swooning too soon?

xoxo [name]Sheridan[/name]

I have a total soft spot for [name]Pepper[/name]. It was the name of a great character in a children’s historical fiction book that I loved. And, I think if you are going to put it in the third spot that it is a GREAT choice with [name]West[/name]–she gets options, you get a cute sib set.

I like [name]Pepper[/name] better than [name]Moxie[/name].

So, Swoon not gag!

Firstly, I just wanted to ask you if you knew that [name]Isabel[/name] is a form of [name]Elizabeth[/name] - so not almost the same name, it is the same name. I don’t know if that bothers you or not. But it also means that you could use either [name]Isabel[/name] or [name]Elizabeth[/name] to pay tribute to an [name]Isabel[/name] or [name]Elizabeth[/name].

Secondly, I really don’t like [name]Pepper[/name] on a child. As a nickname, sure, and I think it’d be a great name on a cat. I just really don’t see it on a person and I think it’d be a bit cruel. [name]How[/name] do you feel about [name]Penelope[/name]? That could possibly be nicknamed to [name]Pepper[/name], if a bit of a stretch. I love [name]Magnolia[/name] though! Personally I’d say go for [name]Magnolia[/name]. [name]Pepper[/name] is not a child’s name!

my gut reaction was to sneeze. sorry. but i like piper, and has same sound… so could get away with it.

I think [name]Pepper[/name] would be a cute nickname, but not a full name. [name]Moxie[/name] could be a nn for [name]Maxine[/name].

Names w/ possible [name]Pepper[/name] nn
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Phillipa[/name]
[name]Perpetua[/name]
[name]Persephone[/name]

Here’s another one swooning over [name]Pepper[/name]… not for me, but if I met a little girl named [name]Pepper[/name], I would want to shake her parents’ hands!

I don’t like [name]Isabel[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] together in the same name… it’s too much of a tongue twister! [name]Pepper[/name] [name]Isabella[/name] or [name]Pepper[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] would be just darling, [name]IMO[/name]. Good luck!

I am laughing so hard at the sneeze comment! Ha! Too funny - I had never made that association.

[name]Penelope[/name] is a great idea, as is [name]Moxie[/name] for [name]Maxine[/name]! Does [name]Maxine[/name] sound a bit dated though? [name]Every[/name] time I see a new reply it’s like [name]Christmas[/name] morning - you just never know what genius names people will have come up with

[name]Pepper[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is VERY cute, you’re right.

I don’t know how I can get myself mentally away from wanting to use [name]Isabel[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] but right now I am fully stuck on that. [name]Oy[/name].

[name]Peter[/name] picked a peck of pickled peppers.
Sorry! Couldn’t resist. I definitely agree that [name]Piper[/name] is nicer than [name]Pepper[/name], especially on an adult. The only adult [name]Pepper[/name] I’ve heard of is [name]Pepper[/name] Potts from Iron [name]Man[/name], and that name sounds very comic book-ey. [name]How[/name] do you feel about [name]Poppy[/name]?

[name]Poppy[/name] I love a lot. The only thing is that it is what I call my grandfather… so that might be odd for me! Also to make matters worse I call his wife - my grandmother - [name]Bo[/name], which is the name of my husband. Ha! I do like [name]Poppy[/name] a lot though. [name]Piper[/name] just seems too common these days but maybe I am wrong?? [name]Pepper[/name] Potts is comic book-y for sure but what a fab name. I wonder if there is an F name to go with French. I’ve thought of [name]Felicity[/name] and calling her Fizzy. Fizzy French seems very comic book though!

Is [name]Bo[/name] short for something? That’s a cool name.

I like [name]Pepper[/name] it’s cute and fun. I think [name]Pepper[/name] sounds great with [name]West[/name]. For [name]Moxie[/name] you could use it as a nickname for something like [name]Molly[/name] [name]Roxanne[/name] or [name]Moira[/name] [name]Trixie[/name]. [name]Magnolia[/name] is too far of a stretch.

[name]Bo[/name] is one of his middle names actually but he has gone by that from day one. I love it too!

And lis09 - as for [name]Moxie[/name] being a combo of [name]Moira[/name] and [name]Trixie[/name] or something like that - GENIUS! I had never thought of it being a two name combo. Oh the possibilities!!!

Thanks everyone for their feedback. Really fun to hear your opinions and ideas.

xo [name]Sheridan[/name]

I absolutely love [name]Pepper[/name]. It’s spunky, fresh, and (in my opinion) can transition from child to teenager to adult.

I think it goes really well with [name]West[/name] and I love [name]Pepper[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name].

I think a good example that comes to mind is Celerie Kemble, the designer. It’s not a name I would pick, but nonetheless has the same idea behind it as [name]Pepper[/name]. Celerie is a very elegant, successful and respected woman, very chic and fun at the same time. I think seeing her (and her personality and success) with a name like Celerie is great!

What about [name]Paloma[/name]?

[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Paloma[/name] French.

Also, I like [name]Moxie[/name] as a nickname for [name]Maxine[/name]! It works much better than [name]Magnolia[/name] and its also a spunkier name.

I think [name]Paloma[/name] is beautiful, but my husband tends to prefer names that stem from our ancestral roots which are English on both of our sides. We do have a little bit of American [name]Indian[/name] in us though which is fun! His brother is [name]Powhatan[/name] nn Powie. I love it!

I like [name]Moxie[/name] and I don’t think it needs a full name. Especially not [name]Magnolia[/name]. Too much of a stretch.

I love [name]Pepper[/name]!! I think it is spunky and cute and just generally terrific. There’s only one bad thing. At school, during rolecall, her name will be listed as French, [name]Pepper[/name]. French pepper. Like, for cooking. Not so great! Using [name]Pepper[/name] as a middle name is a great resolution to this, though! Also, I really think you could name your kid whatever you wanted and still call her [name]Pepper[/name]. It’s like [name]Scout[/name] or [name]Cricket[/name]. Unrelated to a real name, just cute!

I felt the need to post again. Please don’t name your baby [name]Pepper[/name]!

[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name] would be a lovely way to get to [name]Pepper[/name].

hi. i tend to be an impartial observer on these boards (i’m a bit of a name nerd), but i had to chime in here.

i [name]LOVE[/name] the name pepper. my aunt goes by pepper, as her given name is frances, after her father, who is also named francis. how’s that for confusing? i have no idea how she got her nickname (and i didn’t realize it was a nickname until i was about nine years old), but it fits her to a tee, and i love the name. it’s lively, spunky and cheerful, and can transition from childhood to adulthood. that being said, i wouldn’t necessarily use pepper as a given name, and i don’t even think that you need to find a name that would easily give you pepper as a nickname.

Does any of these help?
