I love [name]Rupert[/name] with your combination, but the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] fan in me connects [name]Rupert[/name] with [name]Rupert[/name] Grint ([name]Ron[/name]) and [name]Percy[/name] with [name]Ron[/name]'s brother in the series…so if I saw siblings with both names, that’s what I would think about. Separately there is no association for me.
I’m not sure [name]Clementine[/name] or [name]Emmeline[/name] really fit with the other names so much. [name]Clementine[/name] seems very out of place to me, at least.
I really like [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Jack[/name] to join your others.
As an oldie I am not up with [name]Harry[/name] potter but I have to say I think j k Rowling should be a nameberry ,cos she has such great taste in
names!!
Thanks for voting I noticed that it took a long time for anyone to vote for [name]Francis[/name] who I thought would be a natural with [name]Percy[/name] and [name]Cecil[/name] but [name]Dorothy[/name] isn’t getting much love which again surprises me.
I am glad that [name]Rupert[/name] my GP is getting a lot of love.
Since [name]Percy[/name] and [name]Cecil[/name] are English aristocratic surnames, I think all of your boys names with the exception of the more contemporary [name]Jack[/name] would be fine. I love [name]Ambrose[/name], [name]Edwin[/name] and [name]Francis[/name] the best with [name]Percy[/name] and [name]Cecil[/name]. [name]Rupert[/name] goes well too but the only drawback is that it shares a pronounced “er” sound with [name]Percy[/name]. Again, I think all of the girl options would be fine (my faves are [name]Maude[/name], [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Emmeline[/name]) but I eliminated [name]Dorothy[/name] (same ending as [name]Percy[/name]) and [name]Clementine[/name] (same initial as [name]Cecil[/name]).
Thanks mischa I have never thought of [name]Percy[/name] and [name]Cecil[/name] as being surnames as they are the names of family members. I find it very interesting that we are now just rediscovering [name]Maude[/name] again.
[name]Percy[/name], [name]Cecil[/name], and [name]Francis[/name] are perfect together. I love how all three names have a soft “c” in them. Not something you find in the popular boys’ names of today. [name]Ambrose[/name] and [name]Maude[/name] would also be great with [name]Percy[/name] and [name]Cecil[/name].
southern.maple you are absolutely right about the ‘c’ theme I hadn’t noticed it before but it is a great connection to these names and I think [name]Francis[/name] is an obvious choice with [name]Cecil[/name] and [name]Percy[/name].
[name]Do[/name] you pronounce [name]Cecil[/name] as See sill or Cess ill?
[name]Hi[/name] [name]Rollo[/name], I pronounced [name]Cecil[/name] as “Cess-ill” like the film director/producer, [name]Cecil[/name] B. [name]DeMille[/name].
FYI - Your family has some very distinguished names.
[name]William[/name] [name]Cecil[/name], [name]Lord[/name] Burghley (1520 - 1598), was lord high treasurer, 1572 - 1598, and chief adviser to [name]Elizabeth[/name] 1. His eldest son, [name]Thomas[/name], became first [name]Earl[/name] of Exeter, and [name]Robert[/name], another son, was created [name]Earl[/name] of Salisbury in 1605.
[name]William[/name] de [name]Percy[/name] (1030-1096) who accompanied [name]William[/name] the Conqueror founded a leading Northumbrian family from whom Sir [name]Henry[/name] [name]Percy[/name] (1364-1403) , known as [name]Harry[/name] Hotspur, was descended. He helped place [name]Henry[/name] 1V on the throne but later revolted and was killed. [name]Percy[/name] is the surname of the Dukes of Northumberland.
Since [name]Percy[/name] and [name]Cecil[/name] are both on the softer side of boys names, I would keep that going for another boy. [name]Edwin[/name] and [name]Ambrose[/name] got my vote. [name]Jack[/name] is too masculine. [name]Rupert[/name] and [name]Francis[/name] aren’t my cup of tea.
Since the boys names are softer, I think a very feminine girls name would match. I voted for [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name].
