Recently heard this name for a girl and really like it. It’s pronounced peh-ren-el and is of medieval english origin meaning “little rock” or “everlasting” depending on which site you read! What do you think? [name]Do[/name] you like it? [name]Do[/name] you think it would age ok?
[name]How[/name] about [name]Petronella[/name]? [name]Petronella[/name] is still quite unusual, but has balletic associations and great NN possibilities. Maybe I could get used to Perenelle, but it doesn’t look or sound attractive to me.
Perenelle was the wife of alchemist [name]Nicholas[/name] Flamel, who was said to have discovered the Philosopher’s [name]Stone[/name] and achieve immortality.
I like it-- it’s a very pretty name-- but I think it’s too much on an actual person. It would make a great name for a pet or character, though.
Other versions of the name: Peronel, Petronel, [name]Pernilla[/name], [name]Petrona[/name], [name]Petronella[/name], Petronille, Petronius…
Hey, [name]Liz[/name]! It may just be me, but my first thought was that Perenelle sounds a bit similar to the word “perennial”, which to me, wouldn’t be the best with your last name. Hmm… Aside from that, I think it has a pretty sound.
Wasn’t actually thinking of using it! - not this time at least! - we’re still going with [name]Harriet[/name] or [name]Jemima[/name]. Was just interested in everyone elses thoughts about it!
Haha jill - yes perennial moss would be a fairly amusing combination!
I just love the way the sound kinda rolls of your tongue and is fairly soft sounding - do you agree?
I hate to be rude - I try to say something nice about every name - but initially my first thought was that it sounds like a brand of toilet paper! It is very soft and gentle sounding though
[name]Even[/name] though it’s slightly clunky, I like this name. It’s very unique, I think. I love how the fashionable “elle” ending seems reinvented, and the nn [name]Nellie[/name] is cute. Also, I like this spelling–if it was [name]Pernelle[/name], it would remind me too much of [name]Prunella[/name].
