Persephone is in top 1000 😭

I saw it coming but Iam still so sad about it :pensive:

That’s crazy! I’m very upset people are getting better (imo) taste in names lol. Let’s go back to the loads of [name_f]Melissa[/name_f]’s and [name_f]Kaylee[/name_f]’s :joy: :joy: :joy:

I am actually really surprised that [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] is in the top 1000 all I can say is that it’s probably a small minority of people actually using [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] which is a relief as it’s so annoying if everyone jumps on the bandwagon of improving their name choices all the majestic ones will go!

I wonder if it’s increased in popularity because of the Noughts & Crosses novel series. Noughts & Crosses seems to of been discussed a lot of recent and there’s been a BBC adaption of the first book as well which had a lot of great reviews so maybe that’s why people have started using it.

Damnit that’s the name of my future child I can’t deal with this

It’s unexpected but its similarity to names like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] perhaps reveal why.

To put it into perspective a little though, [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] ranks 864 in the UK which equates to 43 babies

I’m not surprised, given Penelope has been so popular for a minute and people are beginning to lose interest, so in the search for a less common name that’s Penelope-like, they find their way to sweet Persephone.

Personally I like when names I enjoy crack onto the charts. A little familiarity isn’t bad. It’s when they crack the top 100 that I get sad because that’s where we start to transition from familiar to overdone.
For now, I expect Persephone to make a climb, but it probably won’t peak beyond the 400 range. That’s my prediction anyway.

I am so happy for all the baby [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]’s out there. They have a truely classical, magical and beautiful name
