Persephone

Thoughts on [name]Persephone[/name]? Is it too much for a child to carry?

Personally, I think it’s a little heavy but not really. It’s a gorgeous name and it’s familiar (like the new [name]Penelope[/name]). Besides if you think its a little heavy when she gets older, there are some cute nn you could get from [name]Persephone[/name]! Like [name]Percy[/name] (spelled Persy), Seph, [name]Fifi[/name] etc…

I don’t think it’s too much at all! It’s no more than [name]Alexandra[/name] or [name]Victoria[/name]. [name]WAY[/name] less common, but no less “heavy”.

It’s a bit out there for me. I think it would be a great middle name selection, though.

I’m using [name]Persephone[/name] (as you can see in my signature), and I think it’s gorgeous. She’s the goddess of [name]Spring[/name] Growth and is responsible for the beauty of springtime because she and her mother are happily together.

I don’t think it’s too much. As a pp said, it’s no more than any other long name (or [name]Hermione[/name] which is also a Greek myth name with a sort of dark history so many people on here love) and plenty of other names have a bit of dark history some where in there.

Again, it’s gorgeous, most people know how to pronounce it, and there’s a lot of great nicknames (Pers, Persi, Seph, Sephy, [name]Sisi[/name], etc)

I think there are crazier names nowadays. [name]Persephone[/name] is a gorgeous name with a lot of history that would make a girl stand out in a good way. It’ll draw attention but that’ll be a good thing. [name]Love[/name] the name!

[name]Persephone[/name] is a nice, feminine, elegant name that sounds like a beautiful mix of [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Stephanie[/name]. I would much rather see a [name]Persephone[/name] then a Catelynne or a Emylie.
[name]Peri[/name], [name]Poppy[/name], Sef/Seph, [name]Effie[/name], [name]Ani[/name] and even [name]Spring[/name] work as nicknames for a little girl who might have problems spelling/pronouncing the name.

i think it depends on the person, but like ppers said in the future if she thinks its to heavy Seph is a great nn.

I honestly think it depends on the person who wears it, and I don’t think it’s any heavier or unusual than some names I’ve heard these days. Plus, I think the nickname Persy/Persi/[name]Percy[/name] is adorable.

No, it’s not too much! I’d love To have the name, and I think there’s been a lot heavier.

I plan on using this name for a future daughter.

I love the sound of [name]Persephone[/name] but I’m not keen on the number of Ps in it and written down it makes me think of Parlophone (record company!) . I do agree about the lovely nickname options though, although Persy is my least favourite as I’m not into unisex names or NNs.
