I also agree that it reminds me of the slang term. But that being said, I like [name]Peter[/name], mostly because of Chronicles of [name]Narnia[/name], great character to be named for in my opinion, but I probably wouldn’t use it myself.
We named our son [name]Peter[/name] without knowing about the slang. My brother asked about it when we announced the name, and that was the first time I’d ever heard of the name being used that way. Whatever. If people think that when they hear the name [name]Peter[/name], then they need to get their minds out of the gutter! It wouldn’t have deterred me if I had known about it anyway, since I just don’t think the association is very strong.
I love this name. I would have wanted to use it if our last name didn’t start with a “P” (and if we had boys). I don’t understand why it isn’t used more often.
I know a 3 year old [name]Peter[/name], so it totally works!
My honest opinion of this name is that it does sound dated. I know it’s a classic, but it doesn’t have a modern feel for me at all. [name]Petey[/name] is cute, but also sounds dated in my opinion. I completely agree with Taz regarding the slang use of the word…pretty sure the teens I work with would have no clue about that.
