Peter?

Is it ready for a comeback? Or as my DH pointd out is the teasing potential of a part of the male anatomy being referred to as a “[name]Peter[/name]” still to prevalent.

I see it as a underutilized, nice, classic, strong name as well as its a family name. Opinions? Other non teasing potential suggestions? MN would be [name]Michael[/name] or [name]Jon[/name].

I love [name]Peter[/name]! I think it’s more than ready for a comeback. As for the teasing potential- perhaps that’s a US thing because I’ve never heard of it! I too see it as classic and strong and it also reminds me of [name]Peter[/name] [name]Pan[/name] and [name]Peter[/name] Rabbit

For middles I vote [name]Peter[/name] [name]Jon[/name]. I’m not too keen on the flow of [name]Peter[/name] [name]Michael[/name], but then I don’t know how many syllables the surname has. Overall, [name]Peter[/name] is lovely. A definite keeper!

I think it is a timeless name, very nice

My 15 year old son is [name]Peter[/name]. My husband and I had considered the anatomy nickname issue, but in fifteen years it has never come up.

My son loves his name for several reasons. First, it is everywhere and nowhere at the same time. He sees it in books, movie credits and history, everyone is familiar with it, but he’s the sole owner is our community. Second, because of its’ rich history, he’s received affectionate nicknames all his life. When he was tiny, he was ‘pumpkin eater’ to a sitter, his martial arts instructor calls him [name]Peter[/name] the Great, one of his friends still sometimes calls him ‘High’, which is a leftover from his role as [name]Peter[/name], the High [name]King[/name], when they played pretend [name]Narnia[/name] games.

I think [name]Peter[/name] is a great name, and we’ve never had anything but a good experience with it.

I [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Peter[/name]. I’ve known a few Peters and never has the anatomy issue come up. I think the name is so handsome and versatile. I think someone named [name]Peter[/name] could fall into any group in school, go into any career path.

Did [name]Peter[/name] ever really go away? I personally love the name and think it’s a solid, relatively uncommon classic. The only reason I didn’t want to use it for this baby is because it’s an ex-boyfriend’s name. (And for what it’s worth, he never got any teasing because of his name.) I would use it if I were you!

I love it, but kind of agree with your husband.

I really like the name [name]Peter[/name]. It’s classic.

Honestly, there are so many slang words for “penis” nowadays that I honestly never hear “[name]Peter[/name]” being used anymore for it. Not too mention there was a [name]Peter[/name] “[name]Pete[/name]” who went to my high school and he was never made fun of.

Plus, my first association is [name]Peter[/name] [name]Pan[/name]. I don’t think you can go wrong there.

I love [name]Peter[/name]! And it is so unexpected and sweet with [name]Nils[/name], I love them together!
I would do [name]Peter[/name] [name]Jon[/name] as the mn

I dislike [name]Peter[/name]. It is common and boring. My mind automatically associates [name]Peter[/name] with penises.

I love the name [name]Peter[/name]!! You should definitely go for it. It has a beautiful sound to it and it´s just classic. And you can never do wrong with a classical name

I love the name [name]Peter[/name] but do think it has teasing potential. Use with caution. (Of course, several common boys’ names have crude associations and do just fine…[name]John[/name], for example.)

I’ve always liked this name. [name]Pete[/name] doesn’t feel too creepy (like [name]Larry[/name] and [name]Hank[/name] etc can be) and [name]Peter[/name] has a great sharp flow to it, unlike a lot of the other classics that have a softer feel ([name]Paul[/name], [name]John[/name],etc).

I know quite a few in their mid twenties and thirties, but I don’t remember the last young boy I met with the name.

I think it’s a great option!

I don’t think the teasing potential is really there. Most kids (and young adults for that matter) don’t have the vocabulary necessary to know that peter can mean other things. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I prefer [name]Pete[/name]. I think of the anatomy issue with [name]Peter[/name] as well, sorry.

I love [name]Peter[/name]! It’s so classic and will never go out of style. I didn’t even think of the teasing with the male anatomy till you pointed it out!

[name]Peter[/name] is in no way like [name]Dick[/name]. [name]Dick[/name], 100%, has been superseded by the anatomy reference. [name]Peter[/name] has hundreds of associations, only one of them being naughty bits. It’s a very handsome regal name, and I think you should use it without fear.

I was neutral about this name before I know [name]Peter[/name] [name]Griffin[/name] from the TV series family guy. But don’t let this comment bother you. [name]Peter[/name] is classic and vey nice.

I prefer [name]Simon[/name] to [name]Peter[/name] (I know you didn’t mention [name]Simon[/name], but if you’re going for the biblical reference, it’s the same guy). [name]Dean[/name] would be a good mn, with [name]Simon[/name].
