I came across Phaenna recently as the name of one of the Charities in Greek mythology, with the lovely meaning of ‘shining’, but I’m not entirely sure how to pronounce it. I’d assume [name_f]FAY[/name_f]-nuh, but I’d love it if I could get a more definite answer. I’ve always loved mythological and unsuual names with really good meanings, so I feel like Phaenna would fit perfectly, if only I could work out how to say it :D. Any ideas?
I’ve been thinking about this name lately, since I saw Fayenna on someone’s list and realized it was a respelling of Phaenna. According to Dictionary.com it’s pronounced “fay-EN-a.” I’ve seen it spelled with E diaeresis: Phaënna (might clarify pronunciation?). I think it would absolutely fit in with names like [name_f]Jenna[/name_f], [name_f]Sienna[/name_f], [name_f]Mckenna[/name_f] and [name_f]Brenna[/name_f]. It could also be shortened to [name_f]Fae[/name_f]. I like the similar-sounding [name_f]Fenna[/name_f] too. Also, the Russian name [name_f]Faina[/name_f] (“fah-EE-nah”) might be a form of Phaenna.
I completely forgot I posted this :p. I love -enna ending names and Fah-EH-nuh is pretty. Doubt it’ll make it onto a favourites list, but I’ll probably have it under consideration.
