What are your thoughts on [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Ena[/name_f]/[name_f]Ina[/name_f] (pronounced ee-na)? Too much for a modern girl to carry?
We’re Catholic, and some of our friends have named their babies names like [name_m]Pio[/name_m], [name_f]Zelie[/name_f], and [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] (after saints), so I’m thinking that in our circle, it would be fine. But I worry that it’ll be too “out there” in non-Catholic circles.
I love [name_f]Philomena[/name_f]! I think it has a graceful sound that fits in with many names that are popular now. I would love to hear more of this name.
I agree with the last poster, [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] is a beautiful name that needs to be recognized more often. [name_f]Ena[/name_f] is very cute too!
I knew a [name_f]Philomena[/name_f] nn [name_u]Phil[/name_u] who was about 20 and it worked fine on her. I really don’t think it’s too difficult a name to carry, especially with a nn, and she’s not going to be a child forever.
I agree with the previous posters, it’s not that weird a name and it could work on a girl of any age!
[name_f]Ena[/name_f] is a cute nickname! I don’t know if you’re looking for nickname suggestions but here are some just in case: Phia/[name_f]Fia[/name_f], [name_f]Mena[/name_f] (mee-nah), [name_f]Minnie[/name_f], [name_f]Lona[/name_f], [name_u]Lonie[/name_u], Phen/Phena (pronounced [name_u]Finn[/name_u]/Finna)
