Name discussions have been getting more serious around here! Tonight’s name: [name_m]Phineas[/name_m]
Thoughts?? It’s a name that’s been on my radar for awhile, but never made any shirt lists… Until now. Suddenly it feels like a Top 5. Hubby likes it too!
What feel does [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] give you? Is the cartoon association too much? Is [name_u]Finn[/name_u] the only nickname? What middles would you suggest? Likely going with 2 middles.
Randomly said [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] _____ W-ilky and he said he liked it! Last name starts with W, rhymes with milky.
I like [name_m]Phineas[/name_m]! My first association is [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] [name_m]Gage[/name_m], but I don’t think many people would immediately think of him. Second thought is the [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] and Ferb cartoon, which I find hilarious even though I’m 23 lol. If anything, that association sort of makes it more wearable and recognizable. A brilliant, innovative young boy? There’s much worse things to have your kid share a name with
As far as nicknames, I do think [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is, at the very least, the most recognizable nickname. Truthfully, I think [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] is alright without a nickname…it isn’t super long as it is. I don’t really have any other nickname , though. Sorry! I do think that [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] sounds really good!

I like [name_m]Phineas[/name_m]. To me it sounds like a vintage name that’s ready for revival. I’ve never heard of the cartoon - I’m not sure how well-known it is in the country where I live. [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and Finny are the only nicknames I can think of.

I honestly think [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] is a lot of name for a little boy and as much as you might try to stop it, it will turn into finn. So if you don’t like that maybe its not a good choice. I had a few friends who liked oliver but hated ollie. Their kids are now ollies.
I prefer wolfgang… because [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] is a pretty cool nickname.

[name_m]Phineas[/name_m] sounds really posh (like ott posh) to me especially with the mn [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] but other than that the combo is okay. [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is a cool nn and brings the name a little more down to earth.
It’s cute! I thought of [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] [name_m]Gage[/name_m] too so I associate it with late 19th century or early 20th. I like the nn Phin/[name_u]Finn[/name_u] and the suggestion of [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m].
