Phoebe and

I’m not pg yet, but hopefully will be this year. I have tossed names around here before, but just feel like getting some feedback! My daughter is [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. We usually just call her [name]Phoebe[/name], but we and others do often call her both names. I like traditional, but slightly quirky names that are a bit surprising but not weird. Here are the current faves…

[name]Blythe[/name]-this may be my top name right now. I like that it is simple and clean but unusual.

[name]Clementine[/name]-this is dh’s favorite. I have always liked the name but never thought I would really consider it as it is a bit more ‘out there.’ Now I think I could pull the trigger.

[name]Delia[/name]-this name probably is the most natural with [name]Phoebe[/name]. 2-syllables, Greek origin, similar meanings. [name]Just[/name] not sure if it has enough oomph.

[name]Sybil[/name]-DH and I both like this name, but we get fairly unanimous terrible feedback. I like the sound though, and something about it works with [name]Phoebe[/name] to me.

The middle name will most likely be [name]Eugenie[/name], as a mash-up of DH’s grandparents [name]Eugene[/name] and [name]Genie[/name]. If we go with [name]Clementine[/name] or [name]Sybil[/name], however, I will probably use [name]Elliott[/name], my grandmother’s mn, to avoid over-fustiness.

What do you think?

[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Blythe[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name] are adorable together! I like your other names, but [name]Blythe[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name] is head and shoulders above the rest.

[name]Phoebe[/name] and [name]Blythe[/name] sound awesome together. They definitely have the same “feel” to me and I really like the combination.
[name]Blythe[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name] is cute-- Have you considered just [name]Blythe[/name] [name]Genie[/name]? I think that gives a similiar feel to [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Jane[/name] if you did want to call [name]Blythe[/name] by two names too. (though that is not necessary). I feel like [name]Blythe[/name] [name]Eugenie[/name] doesn’t roll off the tongue as well as [name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Jane[/name] for using a full name.

[name]Clementine[/name] - this name is growing on me so much…I’ve been having around NB too long! lol I go through phases with it I guess. It is a very straight forward black and white type name. you either love it or hate it – it works or it doesn’t work. I can’t seem to find a middle ground for the name. [name]Phoebe[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name] – my first instinct is that it doesn’t completely work.

[name]Delia[/name] - I agree-- it does feel like it’s lacking a bit. It feels alot softer than [name]Phoebe[/name] – which is odd because [name]Delia[/name] to me is usually very spunky and tough. (I know a girl w/ this name so I guess I tend to picture her).

[name]Sybil[/name] - I think this is my 2nd choice. It feels really natural as a sister to [name]Phoebe[/name] to me. I can definitely see the negative feedback though. My first feeling was “oh boy” but I let it sit for a few moments and I really like it. Is [name]Sylvia[/name]/[name]Sylvie[/name] an option for you?

Actually, [name]Sylvia[/name] was one of my top picks when I had [name]Phoebe[/name]. I still like it, but I guess [name]Phoebe[/name] and [name]Sylvie[/name] seems a little matchy or something?

When I look at all the responses, the top 3 names are pretty evenly split, but almost everyone likes [name]Sybil[/name] as their second pick. Interesting! I think it’s time to update the official Nameberry description of [name]Sybil[/name] as ‘now dowdy!’
