Phoebe or Daphne

Thoughts on [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] or [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]?

My husband likes these names, but I just can’t seem to fall in love with them. Anyone love them? What images do you connect with them? Other than TV characters. :frowning:

Boys:[name_m]Drake[/name_m][name_m]Daniel[/name_m]|[name_m]Miles[/name_m]Eeren |[name_u]Finn[/name_u][name_m]Johannes[/name_m] |[name_m]Nolan[/name_m]*Klein

Girls:[name_f]Norah[/name_f][name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]* |[name_f]Aveline[/name_f][name_f]Pearl[/name_f]|[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] Eeren

I absolutely adore [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. It’s currently my #1 favorite name and it’s FI’s pick for when we have a girl. I think [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is just so refreshing and spunky. I know everyone always, and I mean ALWAYS, spouts off the same things: “Reminds me of Scooby-Doo” “Reminds me of [name_u]Daffy[/name_u] Duck” etc. and I just have to roll my eyes. [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is so much more than a cartoon character from the late 60s and 70s. I think the name is full of such charm and spunk and quirk, but also feels ethereal and floaty (if that even makes sense).

I love that [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is one of those names that is uncommon enough that she will probably be the only one she ever meets and/or has classes with, but it’s not so unfamiliar that people have never heard the name. I, myself, have only ever heard the name in person once and that was on a gorgeous little girl who was British and had red hair and blue eyes–and I immediately fell in love with the name.

As for [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], I feel it has the same drawbacks as [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] (which is that everyone will immediately mention either Friends or Charmed), but the same quirky and spunky feel. I am completely biased that my preference is [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], but I also find [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] to be a great choice. (FI actually LOVES the idea of sisters called [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].) And again, I think the name is uncommon enough that you won’t have to worry about her being one of a dozen per class, but still familiar enough that everyone recognizes the name and it’s refreshing to hear. I’ve never met a [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], but I’d love to!

I love [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], probably because there is a Turkish version Defne. Defne [name_f]Joy[/name_f] [name_m]Foster[/name_m], [name_m]RIP[/name_m], was an actress one of favorite childhood TV show.
