Are they too similar for sisters?
Which one would you pick and why?

I don’t think they’re too similar for sisters (you wouldn’t really mix up their names while calling them!) but they look so similar that I personally wouldn’t do it. But a lot of people would see no issue with it and I definitely don’t think they’re unusable together! I prefer [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], I think she has a really fun, sunny sound, I love the nickname [name_f]Bee[/name_f], and to me [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] feels a little childish.

I don’t think they’re too similar for sisters, as they only share an ending sound. I prefer [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] in general. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is a bit too cutesy for me, though I think my opinion may change as it becomes more well-used in the US.

I agree they’re fine for sisters. I prefer [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] for the same reasons as mentioned already. If you so love [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], I’d use it too. I knew a Greek woman in her thirties, named [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. She was very glamorous. Her husband was a very popular hairdresser and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] would breeze into the salon, her hair a glorious black curly cloud around her shoulders, nothing childlike or cute.

Fine for sisters but of the two, I would pick [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] for sure. I like [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] but only as a nickname - for eg for [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Penelope[/name_f].
I otherwise think it’s too cutesy and only really suits 0-16 sort of age. I mean, some can wear it as an adult but those who do have to be wealthy and at least a little eccentric and flamboyant.

I like the [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] suggestion for [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
I prefer [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], and my favorite girl name pairing with it is [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]

I think you could get away with using them for sisters. I personally prefer [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], which I think ages a bit better, but both are just adorable!

I don’t think that they’re too close for sisters. They start with the same letter but a different sound. I do prefer [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] though. It ends in an ‘ee’ sound, but just feels more like a solid name that I can picture on an adult. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is just too cute. I really like the idea of [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] nn [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. I know a [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] who is twelve. I’ve known her since she was a baby, & the older she gets the name feels too cute on her.

I think they could work. [name_f]My[/name_f] cousins’ names are similar to these and they work - though these two are matchy.
If I was to pick, ignoring popularity etc, I’d go with the lovely, bright, and bubbly [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]

I personally prefer [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. I think they are similar in written form but not in sound.

They’re too close for me. I like both but would go for [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], I like the quirky unexpected feel.

i don’t think they’re too similar as phoebe is said w an ‘f’ sound. not sure which one i’d pick as i really like them both! but phoebe would probably age a bit better than poppy.

I adore [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. I don’t think it is too cutesy at all. I prefer It to [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].

Thanks for the suggestions, but I actually strongly dislike [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] as a full name for [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. I think it’s extremely far fetched and I find it unnecessary as I would just call her [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] anyway. I know that [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] can be a nickname for Penlope in some cultures, but there [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] sounds different so [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] comes more naturally as a nickname. In [name_f]English[/name_f] I just find it odd. Sorry! It’s one of my pet peeves. I’ll stop ranting

I prefer Poppy!! They both will age quite nicely I think (like Lily Maisie Daisy Daphne Penelope etc.)
I think if you pronounce Phoebe with 3 syllables it could work… other ideas:
Poppy and Primrose
Poppy and Ellie
Poppy and Zoe
Phoebe and Zadie
Phoebe and Primrose
Phoebe and Lucy

I like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] together. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Nell[/name_f]

I prefer [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] because it feels fresher for me 
However I would use [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] for a spring - summer child and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] for an autumn - winter child, if it makes sense?

I adore [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]! I think they are usable as sisters. I have a slight preference for [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], but as I’ve said I really rate [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] too. It’s really not unusual in the UK to encounter all sorts of nickname names on people from all walks of life. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is in the top 20 here and has been for over ten years, so the specific representation of this name is only going to increase
