Phoenix & Duncan

Thoughts on the names…
*[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]
*[name_m]Duncan[/name_m]

They are both my new found loves, what does everyone else think?

Would either sound OK w/ our surname?-[name_m]Wright[/name_m]

[name_m]Duncan[/name_m] is ok. It just makes me think of Dunkin Donuts. I like [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] better but I wish people would lay off using it on girls-I hate to admit that it ruins my love for it as a male name. Technically it is unisex these days, just saying
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] I still love on a boy, cannot help it. [name_f]Nix[/name_f] or [name_m]Nixon[/name_m] would be a cool nickname. I think both could work with [name_m]Wright[/name_m].

I think both sound fine with the last name.

[name_m]Duncan[/name_m] – [name_f]Love[/name_f] it. It’s sort of a nerdy sounding name, but at the same time, I have no problem seeing it on a football player. It’s versatile. I also love that it has [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] connections and I think [name_m]Dan[/name_m] is an accessible nickname.

[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] – [name_f]Love[/name_f] it! I love that it’s mythological, I love the symbolism behind the bird, I love the images it conjures. If you’re into place names, it’s got that going too. It’s strong, it has [name_f]Nix[/name_f] (or [name_u]Nick[/name_u] if you want it ‘normal’) and it’s just cool all around.

I love phoenix one of my fave names… duncan is also nice i like declan too.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] found out that my fiancé has a step-sister (who we never see) w/ a daughter named [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]…so I guess that name is out :frowning: any similar style name suggestions??

Similar in sound to [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]: [name_m]Lennox[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_m]Hendrix[/name_m]…

I’m not really sure what names fall into the same style category. But for whatever reason I thought of [name_u]Cruz[/name_u] and [name_u]Kai[/name_u]. These are all maybe trendier though than you’re looking for.

I do like [name_u]Cruz[/name_u], thanks for the suggestion…but our surname is only one sylable, so first name would need to be multiple (pet peeve!)

[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_m]Wright[/name_m] is a protagonist in a pretty popular videogame where he’s a lawyer and catchphrase is screaming OBJECTION and there’s tons of fan-art of it, so I wouldn’t have been cool with that despite liking the name [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u].

[name_m]Fox[/name_m] is my favourite similar sounding name but doesn’t sound right with a one syllable last.

What about other mythological animals, like [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]/[name_m]Gryphon[/name_m] or Fenris? [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] [name_m]Wright[/name_m] sounds manly and strong. Fenris is not THAT far off [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]…?

[name_m]Duncan[/name_m] is quite likable. [name_m]Duncan[/name_m] [name_m]Wright[/name_m] has a good sound.

[name_m]Duncan[/name_m] is a great, classic Celtic name… although in the US, the Dunkin Donuts association is unavoidable (mind you, there could be worse associations lol)

[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is nice.

I do like the suggestion of [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], although not sure yet if we are fans of alliteration, kind of 50/50 on that at the moment (1st child = [name_m]Gavin[/name_m])
