idk, would alex work as a nn for phoenix? share ur thoughts—
I think anyone could use whatever nickname they want for any name! That being said, I would think [name_u]Alex[/name_u] would be a strange choice in a nickname for [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], especially since all they share is the x, plus they seem like very different styles of names for me. I would personally pick [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] or [name_u]Alex[/name_u], but not one as a nickname for the other.
I think it could absolutely work! I actually know an FN [name_u]Alex[/name_u] MN [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] so I think the names just go together but it totally works as a nickname!
i don’t think that makes sense unfortunately! they sound and look way too different. the only connection they have is the x at the end.
Natural nicknames IMO would be Phee, [name_u]Nix[/name_u], and [name_f]Nixie[/name_f]. I don’t think [name_u]Alex[/name_u] works well, sadly.
Doesn’t really work imo. But something like [name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] “Alex” would be cool!
[name_u]Alex[/name_u] could work, along with [name_u]Nix[/name_u]!
I find it a bit odd? [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] is cool and distinctive, with a hint of the mystical; [name_u]Alex[/name_u] is classic and sturdy and feels like a very separate name.
Still that’s just me. I guess [name_u]Alex[/name_u] could work as an alternative name to [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] (ie, [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] at home and with friends, [name_u]Alex[/name_u] at work?) if you want it to
I don’t think it works because they are completely different names besides them both ending in X.
It’s more a why would you response for me - if my parents called me [name_u]Alex[/name_u] short for [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], I’d think they weren’t sure about [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], it being more adventurous and unusual than the classic Alexandra/Alexander for eg. I think go bold on [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] or pick another name?
I think you can nickname your child whatever you want. But I dont think ‘Alex’ can be a nickname for [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]. They are completely separate names that just happen to share the same ending, and they are the same length. Like someone else said something like [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] or [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] nn [name_u]Alex[/name_u] could work. So you could name your child [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] and call them [name_u]Alex[/name_u], but it would be a nickname unrelated to their given name.
However I LOVE common nicknames for a more unexpected full name, so if thats the vibe you’re going for I think both Nick/Nicky & [name_u]Finn[/name_u] could realistically be a nickname for [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u].
It doesn’t work in my opinion. I like the suggestion of using [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] as the middle name with an [name_m]Al[/name_m]- first name.
