I saw a baby announcement for a boy named [name]Phoenix[/name]… I’m not sure what to think. It’s kind of interesting, but I’m not sure if I would ever have the guts to use something like that. What’s your opinion?
I like it, but I’d only use as a middle name.
I’ve personally always like the idea of [name]Phoenix[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name], which I actually named two twins in a story of mine. (I’d totally forgot about them till now…)
I can see the appeal! I would not use it for myself but I like it as a name. I am usually a fan of place names though, I guess that is just my adventurous spirit lol
Best Wishes
I totally love it but my hubby has instantly said no to it lol so not an option for me… there’s some names I know I can perhaps persuade him on but I feel this is not one of them!
My nephew is called [name]Phenix[/name] ([name]Phoenix[/name] mispelled). At first the entire family was hesitant to accept such an unusual name but I reassured them that it’s not the worst name out there (they were also considering [name]Aspen[/name], which I love the idea of until it gets short formed). These days, everyone in the family couldn’t believe how unwilling they were to accept such a great name for the little guy. It’s one of those names that takes getting used to, but the right little kid with a twinkle in his eye could totally pull it off. I’m intersted to see how the name fares into adulthood.
I love [name]Phoenix[/name], but not because it’s a place name, I think of the mythical [name]Phoenix[/name] from Greek mythology. I have a dear friend whose name is [name]Phoenix[/name] [name]Evander[/name], he’s Greek, and it fits him wonderfully and no one seems to have an issue with it. He goes by [name]Nix[/name] sometimes.
I like [name]Phoenix[/name], but it’s too out-there for me to use. [name]Even[/name] if it wasn’t that out-there, I don’t think I would love it quite enough to use it, but I do see its appeal.
I love [name]Phoenix[/name] for a boy (DH actually suggested it), and I was 100% on board until we saw it continuously popping up as a girls’ name.
I actually really like the nn [name]Fee[/name] for a little girl, but would be more inclined to use the FN [name]Fiona[/name] or [name]Phoebe[/name] to get there. We may still reserve [name]Phoenix[/name] as a middle name for a future DS, just because we like the Greek mythology reference (right there with you, @dantea!), but I don’t think I could use it as a FN.
[name]Kimberley[/name]
Despite it not being a “real” name, I find myself liking it. It’s really the sentiment that appeals to me more than the sound- the idea of rising from the ashes, surviving death, is pretty fantastic. At the same time, though, it’s got a bit of a trendy, invented vibe to it that doesn’t really appeal to me. I think it makes a great middle.
I really like [name]Phoenix[/name] It reminds me of [name]River[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name]. I wouldn’t be afraid to use it, I don’t think it’s particularly pretentious - just adventurous and unique! It’s a lovely strong name.
We are considering it. Actually debating between [name]Phoenix[/name] and [name]Maximus[/name].
