I recently discovered a new girl name: Phophie. I read something about a Greek/[name_m]French[/name_m] make up artist named Phophie [name_m]Mathias[/name_m] and I immediately fell in love with the name Phophie. I suppose it’s a Greek/[name_m]French[/name_m] name, because it’s very similar to [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. But since I can’t find anything on the internet about the name Phophie, I could also imagine that maybe Phophie [name_m]Mathias[/name_m]’ parents made it up haha.
What do you think about Phophie? Is it a lovely alternative to popular [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] or does it look and sound made up?
I’m not a fan. Sorry it just sounds like someone with a mouthful trying to say [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], which also brings up the point that I feel most people would straight off confuse it for [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. Maybe [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] would be appealing to you?
[name_f]Edit[/name_f]: To address the specific concerns you listed about whether or not it sounds/looks made up, it does give that impression, yes.
It’s looks like the result of parents not being able to decide between [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] and sounds like a butchered attempt at pronouncing [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]. I think it would be an interesting nickname, but not a good full name.
To me it sounds like a very young child trying to pronounce [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]… I don’t really like it I’m afraid. For some reason I think the repeated ph’s make it look a little messy… maybe a bit of a stretch but I think Fofie could be a cute nn for names like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Philomena[/name_f]. I also think you might like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]!
I agree with the people above. I feel it’s just a mouthful and the repetition of sounds is just too much. I’ve also heard some people call their lady areas Phophie. Sorry.
