Pick apart this girls list

I’m not expecting but like to see other people’s opinions on names I like for future reference. What are your thoughts on these? Be as honest and blunt as you like!

[name]Hermione[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] (Klar-ah)

[name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Meredith[/name]
[name]Nia[/name]
[name]Seren[/name] (Seh-ren)

[name]Angharad[/name]: Interesting…I like it!
[name]Camilla[/name]: Ermm…no
[name]Rosalind[/name]: Not a huge fan of [name]Rose[/name]- names.
[name]Meredith[/name]: Like.
[name]Nia[/name]: I like [name]Mia[/name], [name]Tia[/name] and [name]Lia[/name], but I’ve never heard [name]Nia[/name]. Its cute.

[name]Aurelia[/name]: NMS
[name]Genevive[/name]: NMS…again
[name]Charlotte[/name]: I really like this but its so popular!!
[name]Ffion[/name]: Like
[name]Aoife[/name] : [name]LOVE[/name]
[name]Grace[/name]: Too popular
[name]Efa[/name]: prefer [name]Aoife[/name].
[name]Gisele[/name]: NMS

~[name]Jasmine[/name]

[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Clara[/name] (but only with this pn). I would use the nn [name]Ari[/name] with it.
Like [name]Meredith[/name] but can’t think of a good nn for it, which loses points for me.
Like [name]Grace[/name] a lot, but is very popular, which also loses points

The rest do nothing for me.
[name]How[/name] about [name]Camille[/name] as an option instead of [name]Camilla[/name]?

[name]Hermione[/name]- too tied to [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]- [name]Love[/name] sweet and spunky
[name]Angharad[/name]- No idea how to say this
[name]Camilla[/name]- ok
[name]Rosalind[/name] - I have always despised this name
[name]Meredith[/name] - Pretty and spunky
[name]Nia[/name] - Stuck up
[name]Seren[/name]- Looks like you misspelled [name]Soren[/name]
[name]Aurelia[/name]- Too frilly, kind of sounds like a disease
[name]Genevieve[/name]- Beautiful, love it
[name]Charlotte[/name]- Really like it, [name]Lottie[/name] is a cute nn
[name]Ffion[/name]- ??
[name]Aoife[/name]- [name]Love[/name] it
[name]Grace[/name]- Mega popular
[name]Efa[/name]- I prefer the Irish spelling
[name]Giselle[/name]- Snooty

[name]Hermione[/name] - Too tied to HP. You’re never going to get away from that reference. Maybe as a middle name.
[name]Clara[/name] (Klar-ah) - Meh. I really love [name]Claire[/name]. [name]Clara[/name] is just… missing something for me.
[name]Angharad[/name] - My first reaction is “wtf is that?” Looked it up and I do like the meaning, but TBH I think it’s ugly sounding (if I’m even saying it right?)
[name]Camilla[/name] - I like it.
[name]Rosalind[/name] - Meh. Not really a fan of the “rose” names.
[name]Meredith[/name] - Like.
[name]Nia[/name] - Seems too short, like it should be a nn for something.
[name]Seren[/name] - I like it but [name]Serena[/name] is 1000x more beautiful to me!
[name]Aurelia[/name] - [name]Ever[/name] since I saw someone mention they thought it was too close to aureola, I can’t help but think of that.
[name]Genevive[/name] - It’s ok… was this a typo? This spelling is a little odd.
[name]Charlotte[/name] - [name]Love[/name]! As long as it’s [name]Charlotte[/name], NOT [name]Lottie[/name]. I hate that nn (sorry to anyone that likes it). [name]Charlie[/name] is ok but I love just [name]Charlotte[/name].
[name]Ffion[/name] - What is this??
[name]Aoife[/name] - In theory I like it, but I feel like a lot of these types of names just cause issues if you’re in the US.
[name]Grace[/name] - Yawn.
[name]Efa[/name] - Too incomplete/nicknamey.
[name]Gisele[/name] - Like.

[name]Hermione[/name]- [name]Love[/name] this name. Wish it were usable right now, but I don’t see that happening for quite a while…
[name]Clara[/name] (Klar-ah)- Sweet, pretty. Would expect a neat, girlie girl with this name. And a graceful young woman…
[name]Angharad[/name]- Grand. Has always looked like a bit of a mash written down, to me. Slightly stuffy…
[name]Camilla[/name]- I like [name]Camille[/name]. [name]Camilla[/name] sounds fusty and fussy to me…
[name]Rosalind[/name]- Not a fan. Kind of find lots of the [name]Rose[/name] variations dull and lacking freshness
[name]Meredith[/name]- Middle aged, and not in a cool vintage way…
[name]Nia[/name]- Not my style, but has a nice sharp sound.
[name]Seren[/name]- Like this. More written down than said aloud, even. Pretty
[name]Aurelia[/name]- Bit princessy sounding for my taste
[name]Genevive[/name]- Is this a typo? Gonna assume it is. I like [name]Genevieve[/name]. Delicate, french, sophisticated.
[name]Charlotte[/name]- Not a fan. Have known some awful Charlottes, so biased on this one!
[name]Ffion[/name]- Striking and unusual. Like it!
[name]Aoife[/name]- Beautiful.
[name]Grace[/name]- Blah. So overused, and not a huge fan of the principal of virtue names as it is…
[name]Efa[/name]- Like, but prefer [name]Aoife[/name] spelling
[name]Gisele[/name]- Its okay. Neutral on this.

Really nice varied list here! You have a hard style to pin down, and thats a compliment. Diverse.

@jennipea382 a couple of your responses actually made me laugh out loud! The [name]Aurelia[/name] one in particular. Never saw it before but now I do!

A few of the Welsh names seemed to have caused problems! I’m Welsh and live in [name]Wales[/name],to explain why there are so many of them.
[name]Ffion[/name] seems to have stumped a couple of you! It’s pronounced fee-on,means foxglove. It’s a Welsh name
[name]Efa[/name] is also Welsh but isn’t pronounced the same as [name]Aoife[/name],it’s pronounced roughly like air-va.
[name]Seren[/name] is also Welsh,means star

[name]Genevive[/name] spelt like that was definitely a typo not an attempt at a “unique” alternative!

Thanks for the responses ladies

[name]Hermione[/name]- pretty and not common
[name]Clara[/name] (Klar-ah)- clunky at best
[name]Angharad[/name]- pretty with lovely meaning … But not everyone is gifted in the linguistic Olympics that is Welsh
[name]Camilla[/name]-Always reminds me of the old trout married to [name]Charles[/name]
[name]Rosalind[/name] - not bad as long as it doesn’t get shortened
[name]Meredith[/name] - good name … And not common
[name]Nia[/name]-it’s an ok mn at best
[name]Seren[/name]-too common in [name]Wales[/name] … [name]Every[/name] other kid has this name
[name]Aurelia[/name]- very pretty … Like a lot
[name]Genevive[/name]- it’s ok
[name]Charlotte[/name] - good but never to be shortened
[name]Ffion[/name] - again ok
[name]Aoife[/name] - Gaelic bonkers spelling but nice enough name
[name]Grace[/name]- timeless but too popular
[name]Efa[/name]- nah
[name]Gisele[/name][/QUOTE]-it’s ok

[name]Hermione[/name] - too [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]. It’s a cool name, but that’s all the general population will think of. OR the rare few who don’t make that association won’t know how to pronounce it.
[name]Clara[/name] (Klar-ah) - adorable and spunky.
[name]Angharad[/name] - no one will know what to do with this. I guess it depends where you are though.
[name]Camilla[/name] - I much prefer [name]Camille[/name], which I think sounds chic and sweet. [name]Camilla[/name] is a tad middle-aged.
[name]Rosalind[/name] - one of my favourite [name]Rose[/name] variations.
[name]Meredith[/name] - a favourite of mine, it’s in my top 5 for girls at the moment. It’s beautiful without being frilly.
[name]Nia[/name] - very streamlined, I like it.
[name]Seren[/name] - always reminds me of the poisonous gas. I prefer [name]Maren[/name]. Or [name]Sarah[/name].
[name]Aurelia[/name] - it’s alright…too frilly for my tastes.
[name]Genevive[/name] - I don’t like this spelling. Either way, it’s always stuck me as a little too poodley.
[name]Charlotte[/name] - can’t go wrong with this classic…but alongside of some of your choices (like [name]Angharad[/name] and [name]Aurelia[/name], she seems too popular).
[name]Ffion[/name] - it’s okay, but again (and totally dependent on your area) the spelling/pronunciation could cause major confusion. Not everywhere is like NB!
[name]Aoife[/name] - see above. I [name]DO[/name] like this one though.
[name]Grace[/name] - I like seeing this in the first name spot. I’m SICK of it in the middle.
[name]Efa[/name] - I’m not a big fan of this.
[name]Gisele[/name] - there are so many French names I like so much more than this.

My favourites: [name]Clara[/name], [name]Meredith[/name], [name]Aoife[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Grace[/name].

[name]Camilla[/name] - it’s pretty, but feels very adult, hard to visualize a little girl going by this name, but Camy/[name]Cally[/name]/[name]Milly[/name] is cute
[name]Clara[/name] - pretty
[name]Rosalind[/name] - like [name]Camilla[/name] this feels like a very adult name to me, but [name]Rosy[/name]/[name]Lina[/name]/[name]Sally[/name]/etc could work
[name]Genevive[/name] - pretty
[name]Charlotte[/name] - nice
[name]Grace[/name] - okay
[name]Gisele[/name] - meh
[name]Aurelia[/name] - meh
[name]Meredith[/name] - I’ve never been fond of this name, I think it’s the “death” ending

[name]Hermione[/name] - I’m a huge HP nerd, but I wouldn’t saddle my kid with this one
[name]Angharad[/name] - depends on your location I suppose, but it would be horrible in my area SoCal
[name]Efa[/name] - same as above
[name]Ffion[/name] - same as above, I don’t ‘get’ the double letters to start, makes me want to say fehfee-on
[name]Aoife[/name] - same as above, not as bad as the others, but still on the side of too unique for my area
[name]Nia[/name] - same as above
[name]Seren[/name] - same as above, though I do think this one, it would make a great middle

[name]Hermione[/name]: I don’t think anyone could see this and not think of [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]. But either way, NMS.
[name]Clara[/name] (Klar-ah): I really like it. Simple and elegant.
[name]Angharad[/name]: I don’t really even know what on earth to think. I’m not sure about pronunciation at all… Is it like [name]Ingrid[/name]? That’s kind of what I’m getting. I think it’s pretty unusable, no one would be able to spell it.
[name]Camilla[/name]: I like it.
[name]Rosalind[/name]: I don’t like the -lind ending.
[name]Meredith[/name]: I think this is dated, but not enough to be cool.
[name]Nia[/name]: NMS
[name]Seren[/name]: NMS
[name]Aurelia[/name]:Pretty but NMS
[name]Genevive[/name]: NMS
[name]Charlotte[/name]: I like it, but it’s just so popular.
[name]Ffion[/name]:NMS
[name]Aoife[/name]: Pretty! But definitely issues with pronunciation and spelling.
[name]Grace[/name]: I like it, but due to popularity I would never use it as a fn.
[name]Efa[/name]: NMS
[name]Gisele[/name]:NMS

[name]Hermione[/name]- [name]Love[/name] this! My youngest daughter’s middle name
[name]Clara[/name] (Klar-ah)- Pretty
[name]Angharad[/name]- Not a fan
[name]Camilla[/name]- Also pretty. [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Camilla[/name] have the same feel, for me.
[name]Rosalind[/name]- Meh bit bland
[name]Meredith[/name]- Meh, kind of the same. A clunky one, for me
[name]Nia[/name]- Alright…a little forgettable amongst the [name]Mia[/name] and Tias
[name]Seren[/name]- Pretty. Striking!
[name]Aurelia[/name]- A little girlie girlie
[name]Genevive[/name]- Strange spelling? Not really my style. A little affected?
[name]Charlotte[/name]- Classic but not my style
[name]Ffion[/name]- Interesting. Wouldn’t use it but would love to hear it on someone else
[name]Aoife[/name]- I adore this name. Gorgeous, in sound and in writing. I think this name is going to go big outside of [name]Ireland[/name] in the future.
[name]Grace[/name]- Bored of this name. Overused. Otherwise I might just have liked it
[name]Efa[/name]- Is this pronounced the same as [name]Aoife[/name]? [name]Don[/name]'t think much of the spelling
[name]Gisele[/name]- Pretty, and a little exotic. Not quite my style, but I like it

[name]Genevive[/name] spelt like that was a typo! iPhone auto correct must be watched at all times!

[name]Efa[/name] is pronounced almost like air-va or ehv-ah. But I agree the spelling is…difficult. I love the way it sounds but it does look like 3 letters just next to each other. A shame!

[name]Hermione[/name] - I love this because of the HP reference. She’s such a great character, why wouldn’t you want people to think of her? However, I think it works as a middle only.
[name]Clara[/name] - Eh, kinda boring
[name]Angharad[/name] - NMS
[name]Camilla[/name] - On the fence
[name]Rosalind[/name] - Not my favorite [name]Rose[/name] name. I prefer [name]Rosalie[/name] or just [name]Rose[/name].
[name]Meredith[/name] - I would love to meet a little [name]Meredith[/name]! I love it. And Mere ([name]Mare[/name]?) is a super cute nn, [name]IMO[/name].
[name]Nia[/name] - [name]Don[/name]'t like. I do like [name]Nina[/name], though.
[name]Seren[/name] (Seh-ren) - seems masculine to me
[name]Aurelia[/name] - Like
[name]Genevieve[/name] - [name]Love[/name], but wouldn’t personally use
[name]Charlotte[/name] - Snooze
[name]Ffion[/name] ([name]Fee[/name]-on) - NMS
[name]Aoife[/name] (Ee-fa) - NMS
[name]Grace[/name] - Oh, I love [name]Grace[/name]! And I really love [name]Grey[/name] as a nn.
[name]Efa[/name] ([name]Air[/name]-va / Ehv-ah) - NMS
[name]Gisele[/name] - I feel like this name comes with high expectations. (Thanks to the model, I guess.)

[name]Hermione[/name]–I can’t get on board with the sound–it just doesn’t sound pretty to me.
[name]Clara[/name] (Klar-ah)–very pretty
[name]Angharad[/name] (Ahng-hahr-ahd)–again, not a pretty sound to me
[name]Camilla[/name]–[name]Lovely[/name]! I really like it.
[name]Rosalind[/name]–pretty, but I don’t love it
[name]Meredith[/name]–I feel kind of neutral about it.
[name]Nia[/name]–it’s ok
[name]Seren[/name] (Seh-ren)–I’ve never seen or heard the name [name]Seren[/name], but I think it sounds nice and I like the meaning.
[name]Aurelia[/name]–sounds a bit pretentious to me
[name]Genevieve[/name]–very pretty
[name]Charlotte[/name]–pretty
[name]Ffion[/name] ([name]Fee[/name]-on)–I like it a lot–has a very soft sound.
[name]Aoife[/name] (Ee-fa)–love!
[name]Grace[/name]–I like it.
[name]Efa[/name]–don’t like it
[name]Gisele[/name]–not a fan

All the replies are really interesting!
A few of the names I would only use in the middle, such as [name]Angharad[/name]. It sounds lovely when Welsh people say it,but it’s a linguistic challenge for everyone else it seems! Given how small the world is these days, having a name rendered unpronounceable outside of your home nation would be hard! [name]Gisele[/name] is also one I was thinking of as a middle name. As a pp said,it comes with high expectations as a first name, thanks to Ms Bundchen!

[name]Hermione[/name]-[name]Love[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] (Klar-ah)-NMS
[name]Angharad[/name] (Ahng-hahr-ahd)-Dislike
[name]Camilla[/name]-Like
[name]Rosalind[/name] -NMS
[name]Meredith[/name]-Dislike
[name]Nia[/name]-Dislike
[name]Seren[/name] (Seh-ren)-It’s OK
[name]Aurelia[/name]-Like
[name]Genevieve[/name]-NMS
[name]Charlotte[/name]-Like but its quite popular
[name]Ffion[/name] ([name]Fee[/name]-on)-Dislike
[name]Aoife[/name] (Ee-fa)-Like
[name]Grace[/name]-For a fist name only
[name]Efa[/name] ([name]Air[/name]-va / Ehv-ah)-Dislike
[name]Gisele[/name]-NMS

My favourite is [name]Hermione[/name] but could someone explain what this has to do with [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]?

She was the main female character in [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]. I’m really not bothered by the association,it’s my number 1 favourite… It will only stop being “too [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]” when someone decides it has and starts using it. I may well be that person lol!

Thanks hayley88. Never read the books or watched the film so had no idea! I would say use it! My mum teaches a little [name]Hermione[/name].

[name]Hermione[/name] - I love the history and literary links to this name. However, I’m not sure about using it.
[name]Clara[/name]* (Klar-ah) - [name]Love[/name] this! [name]One[/name] of my top names!
[name]Angharad[/name] (Ahng-hahr-ahd) - Meh.
[name]Camilla[/name] - Like this. Prefer [name]Camille[/name]
[name]Rosalind[/name] - [name]Rosamund[/name] or [name]Rosalie[/name] is better [name]IMO[/name]
[name]Meredith[/name] - Persoanlly prefer [name]Marianne[/name]
[name]Nia[/name] - Prefer [name]Mia[/name] or [name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Seren[/name] (Seh-ren) - I like how this is pronounced though I prefer [name]Serena[/name] on paper
[name]Aurelia[/name] - Really like this. It’s v. pretty.
[name]Genevieve[/name] - A new favourite of mine.
[name]Charlotte[/name] - Again, one of my favourites
[name]Ffion[/name] ([name]Fee[/name]-on) - [name]Love[/name] the spelling, not the pronounciation.
[name]Aoife[/name] (Ee-fa) - I do like this very much. Not sure about using it though.
[name]Grace[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this. A favourite.
[name]Efa[/name] ([name]Air[/name]-va / Ehv-ah) - Prefer [name]Ava[/name] or [name]Eva[/name]
[name]Gisele[/name] - Again, meh. I can’t see it on a child.
