[name]Link[/name]… Sounds like a better option for a nickname not a full name. [name]Lincoln[/name]?
[name]Sedric[/name]- prefer it with a C, but not a bad name. Didn’t vote for it with the current spelling, but might have with the c.
[name]Ives[/name]- might be difficult for people to pronounce. I remember reading the pronunciation for [name]Ives[/name] saint [name]Laurent[/name] while on a plane and thinking ‘Ooooh that’s how it is said!’ yet I still forget every once in a while.
[name]Archer[/name]- got my vote, and I like [name]Archie[/name] as a nickname too.
[name]Forrest[/name]- friends’ teenage son is named this and it fits him so well, I really like it. Also got my vote.
[name]Everard[/name]- not really sure what to think. It’s not that bad but reminds me of [name]Everly[/name] or [name]Evan[/name] squished with [name]Gerald[/name]. The -erar- kind of makes it tongue twisty for me.
[name]Kolten[/name]- not spelled this way. [name]Don[/name]'t care for it like this but like the sound.
[name]Thatcher[/name]- got my vote too. Really like this name.
[name]Phoenix[/name]- also voted for it, because it was spelled correctly and I do like the association and strength in the name. Not sure of nicknames for that one though (may not be a concern for you, but I need good nickname options)
[name]Smith[/name]- very last namey to me, though I guess so is [name]Thatcher[/name]. Depends on the actual last name to go with it.
I picked [name]Link[/name], [name]Archer[/name] and [name]Kolten[/name]. I like [name]Link[/name], but only as a nn to [name]Lincoln[/name]. I really like [name]Archer[/name], as well. I like [name]Colton[/name], but spelled this way. I don’t really like [name]Sedric[/name], but I think it could work (I know a 5 year old with the name). I prefer the [name]Cedric[/name] sp, though.
Define “Palinesque”. I do not understand what you mean. Perhaps if you are referring to [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Palin[/name]? I don’t see the possible connection you are trying to make if that is the case. Anyway, no need to apologize haha. I’m not asking for anyone’s approval, I just want honest opinions. I purposefully picked very “odd” names (and spellings) in order to gauge what the public is comfortable with. I almost regret putting in [name]Archer[/name] and maybe [name]Thatcher[/name] since they’re kinda “trendy” right now.
And no worries, if you are one to worry about strangers’ lives, I have no littles to be naming anytime soon.
The [name]Palin[/name] connection = the sort of ‘names’ [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Palin[/name] burdened her kids with. Because not only are they straining the edge of “different” but there are wider considerations to using the like. [name]Just[/name] one example in context: here in the UK “[name]Bristol[/name]” is like naming your daughter “Tits” or “Rack”; and likewise in your selection:
[name]Thatcher[/name] is the most hated PM ever by about half the population (and would be the = to an American calling a kid “Weathermen [name]Manson[/name] Osama [name]Benedict[/name] [name]Arnold[/name]”).
[name]Link[/name] is the name of the cash machine network in convenience stores.
[name]Everard[/name] is the name of a gay character invented by a famously camp comedian back in the homophobic 60s/70s that meant the name has never been taken seriously since and is effectively obsolete as a result
Not the sort of names you’d want on your passport when entering Heathrow if you don’t want to set the border control guards to uncontrollable sniggering…
Anyway, here’s some more suggestions, seeing as you evidently like that sort of thing (whether you got the ‘connection’ or not):
Oh, I don’t intend on the pronunciation being the same as YSL. I intend it to be pronounced very American like “eyevs”. The thing is… I’m in love with the name [name]Ivan[/name]… but my nephew is named [name]Evan[/name]. I don’t want the clash. So, I just want a short Iv__ name and [name]Ives[/name] was one I liked… as “eyevs”.
