Following earlier topic I closed, I decided to show you my top picks. This is list of my likes, no loves, but I’m in need for new names and I am going to ask you for opinion on these names. You can still suggest new names, it will be appreciated, although I do have lots of names. Check signature for more help on this.
[name_f]My[/name_f] fave is [name_m]Eamon[/name_m], but feel free to be honest. [name_f]My[/name_f] top five are in bold.
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] - I prefer [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] on a boy and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] on a girl.
[name_m]Valor[/name_m] - I’d use it only as a middle name.
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m] - On my guilty pleasure list, I love it.
[name_m]Brandon[/name_m] - Feels 90s and boring, sorry! I don’t think it fits with your other favorites.
[name_m]Beauregard[/name_m] - For me it’s a little too complicated, but I find it handsome and I think it’s a great way to get the adorable nickname [name_m]Beau[/name_m].
Beaumont - It’s a term for jet set in [name_f]Russia[/name_f] so it’s a bit hard for me not to think about it… but same as above. Great way to get [name_m]Beau[/name_m].
[name_u]Oberon[/name_u] - Not something I’d use, but it’s good.
[name_m]Alaric[/name_m] - Not a fan of “ric” names, to be honest. I like [name_m]Alastair[/name_m].
[name_m]Casper[/name_m] - Handsome. I prefer [name_m]Caspar[/name_m].
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] - I love it and also [name_m]Hugh[/name_m].
[name_m]Oswald[/name_m] - I love it, but American people would probably have strong associations with [name_u]Lee[/name_u] [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] [name_m]Oswald[/name_m].
[name_m]Eamon[/name_m] - Handsome! I also love [name_m]Eames[/name_m].
[name_m]Walter[/name_m] - Right now it reminds me of [name_m]Walter[/name_m] White! I quite like it.
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m] - Again, not a fan of “ric” names and associations with [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] Diggory are too strong.
[name_m]Calloway[/name_m] - Not something I’d use, but I like it.
[name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] - I adore [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m].
[name_m]Endymion[/name_m] - I love his story, but honestly I wouldn’t use it for a baby.
[name_m]Erasmus[/name_m] - Not a fan of the sound.
[name_m]Thorsten[/name_m] - [name_u]Haven[/name_u]'t heard about it before. I think I like it.
Beaumonde - I prefer Beaumont.
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] - I think it quite cool on a boy
[name_m]Valor[/name_m] -
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m] - very vintage and very cool
[name_m]Brandon[/name_m] - has been done a thousand times
[name_m]Beauregard[/name_m] - just hope your son will never travel to [name_f]France[/name_f] or [name_f]Canada[/name_f] or…
Beaumont - same thing
[name_u]Oberon[/name_u] - not my personal favourite but it sounds interesting
[name_m]Alaric[/name_m] - nice
[name_m]Casper[/name_m] - absolutely adore this name, even more if spelled [name_m]Caspar[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] - loved it, then I found out that it’s pronounced Uu-go in English
[name_m]Oswald[/name_m] - very, very vintage but I like it
[name_m]Eamon[/name_m] - not my style
[name_m]Walter[/name_m] - too vitage
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m] - still reminds me of [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m], the name itself isn’t my favourite
[name_m]Calloway[/name_m] - nms
[name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] - unusual and interesting, in a good way
[name_m]Endymion[/name_m] - nms
[name_m]Erasmus[/name_m] - nms
[name_m]Thorsten[/name_m] - I only know 30+ year olds with that name, so it’s a bit hard imagining it on a little baby
Beaumonde - another name that is not a name
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] - Not a fave. [name_f]My[/name_f] female cousin is named [name_u]Robin[/name_u].
[name_m]Valor[/name_m] - I like the name but in the middle spot
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m] - reminds me of Magnum PI and a little over the top macho for me
[name_m]Brandon[/name_m] - “dated”
[name_m]Beauregard[/name_m] - mn only
Beaumont - see [name_m]Beauregard[/name_m] [name_u]Oberon[/name_u] - [name_m]King[/name_m] of the Fairies. It may be hard for a boy to live down but I do like the look and sound of the name.
[name_m]Alaric[/name_m] - OK but it sounds harsh [name_m]Casper[/name_m] - I like [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] and [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] so this is ok if you don’t mind the Friendly Ghost association. Anyway, there are worse cartoons out there. [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] - [name_f]My[/name_f] fave on your list. Handsome, dashing, romantic with lots of Continental flair.
[name_m]Oswald[/name_m] - [name_u]Lee[/name_u] [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] who assassinated President [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] wouldn’t be someone I would want to be reminded of every time I called my son’s name. There are better “Os” names out there: [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Oswin[/name_m], [name_m]Osric[/name_m], Osred, [name_m]Osias[/name_m], [name_m]Osgood[/name_m]. I prefer any of these to [name_m]Oswald[/name_m]. [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] - I like this Irish version and its English one [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] very much. [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] sounds like a friendly and personable man. [name_m]Walter[/name_m] - too vitage
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m] - [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] and [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] the Entertainer have taken over [name_m]Walter[/name_m] [name_m]Scott[/name_m]'s invention. Unfortunate.
[name_m]Calloway[/name_m] - better in the middle spot [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] - This hasn’t been chosen very much because it was Kramer’s first name on the TV show Seinfeld. I like it becasue it reminds me of the universe.
[name_m]Endymion[/name_m] - only in the middle spot and if you’re feeling lucky [name_m]Erasmus[/name_m] - an underused “s” ending name. A saint’s name with loads of history.
[name_m]Thorsten[/name_m] - A fine Scandinavian name but a little harsh.
Beaumonde - reminds me too much of blancmange pudding dessert. Only in the middle but preferably not at all.
[name_u]Robin[/name_u]: [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood’s obviously the first association, which is pretty cool, but it feels a bit effeminate, and I dislike nn [name_m]Rob[/name_m].
[name_m]Valor[/name_m] - makes me think of girls’ name [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]. Dislike nn [name_u]Val[/name_u]. Also kind of a hefty responsibility to carry the name, essentially, bravery. What if he has a ton of anxiety?
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m] - feels very flamboyant, but also pretty cool.
[name_m]Brandon[/name_m] - feels kind of dated.
[name_m]Beauregard[/name_m] - cool sound. I think of [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_m]Beauregard[/name_m], though.
Beaumont - nice. Feels kind of Southern. [name_u]Oberon[/name_u] - favourite. I’m a huge Midsummer fan.
[name_m]Alaric[/name_m] - has a cool, medieval feel to it.
[name_m]Casper[/name_m] - 'fraid my only association is the friendly ghost. [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] - makes me think of writer [name_m]Victor[/name_m]. [name_m]Oswald[/name_m] - sounds very distinguished.
[name_m]Eamon[/name_m] - never sure how to say this one. Ay-mon?
[name_m]Walter[/name_m] - bit geeky. [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] - has the medieval thing going. Dislike nn [name_m]Ced[/name_m].
[name_m]Calloway[/name_m] - feels a little girlish.
[name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] - not a fan.
[name_m]Endymion[/name_m] - hard to pronounce. [name_m]Erasmus[/name_m] - cool. Makes me think of an eccentric professor or wizard. [name_m]Thorsten[/name_m] - I like nn [name_m]Thor[/name_m].
Beaumonde - least favourite of the beau family.
