I know a girl named [name_m]Pearce[/name_m] and have never thought of it being masculine. [name_m]Piers[/name_m] seems more masculine to me because I pronounce [name_m]Piers[/name_m] with more of a z sound on the end while [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]/[name_m]Pearce[/name_m] with an s.
@maamama Thanks for your input! I’ve never thought about the [name_m]Pearce[/name_m] spelling before
[name_m]Pierce[/name_m]/[name_m]Piers[/name_m]/[name_m]Pearce[/name_m] are all masculine to me.
Thanks for the suggestions! I would really like [name_u]Paris[/name_u]/[name_u]Parris[/name_u] if it wasn’t a place, plus it reminds me too much of [name_u]Paris[/name_u] [name_m]Hilton[/name_m].
I absolutely think it works.
If [name_u]James[/name_u] isn’t too masculine for a girl than [name_m]Piers[/name_m] certainly isn’t.
I think it sounds alright. It does have a similar [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] feel, and isn’t so common that kids would pick up on it being a masculine name. I’m having trouble picturing it on a girl, but that’s more of a personal preference thing. My one worry is, would you want to save [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]/ [name_m]Piers[/name_m] for a potential son?
If you want something similar to [name_m]Piers[/name_m] but more feminine, maybe:
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f] (or, for something more unique, [name_f]Pearla[/name_f] / [name_f]Perla[/name_f])
[name_f]Kiersten[/name_f] (for the -iers sound)
[name_f]Paige[/name_f]
[name_u]Perry[/name_u] / [name_u]Perrin[/name_u]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_u]Sierra[/name_u]
[name_u]Parker[/name_u]
[name_f]Greer[/name_f]
@brittanyanitarose that is exactly what my husband said!
@nic_blondie It will be the last child, so we wouldn’t be hoping to save it for any future boys. I think it does make it easier that we could both picture it on our daughter (blonde hair, blue eyes), plus we live in a southern city where you constantly meet little girls named [name_m]Davis[/name_m], [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], [name_u]Reed[/name_u], etc. which I think makes it easier for us to imagine since we’ve met so many little girls with “male” names. Plus, we live at the beach and [name_m]Piers[/name_m] just seems so beachy to me (probably because of the word Pier).
I do love the name [name_u]Reese[/name_u]! I would use it in a heartbeat if it wasn’t so popular. I just know too many little Reeses already.
This name was suggested to me when I had my firstborn (male) for personal reasons (to do with the seaside structure). I wasn’t keen (though I appreciate the imagery). I think it is obscure enough that it wouldn’t be outlandish on a girl. I would do it if I liked a similar name. Thinking out loud but would Pier work better? Although it sounds more like [name_m]Pierre[/name_m] it is also just a word and word names can more easily become unisex. This might be a bad idea though!
I think Pier could be cute, but the S sound on the end is part of what I love about the name. I just love names that end in s/ce for some reason!
Fair enough. I think unless [name_m]Pierce[/name_m]/ [name_m]Piers[/name_m]/ etc are common for boys where you are then it should be able to be used for a girl.
What about something else simple and unisex.
[name_u]Adair[/name_u]
[name_f]Greer[/name_f]
I don’t think it’s too masculine but I tend to like unisex names on girls. I also like the nautical association (pier). I like the name [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] on a girl, too!
[name_u]Pax[/name_u]

[name_f]Piri[/name_f]
Absolutely not.
