Pilot (Lottie) for a girl?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I love the name [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] and think it would be lovely on a girl with the nn [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] :). Apart from this names I’m considering are generally more traditional such as…
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] (honour name)
[name_f]Nancy[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f] (honour name)

Could I use [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] for a first name? Would be better as a middle name and if so could we call her [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] or is that a little weird? Any good combos from the names above…?

Honestly I think [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] is a little too out there, especially for a girl
Other names with the nn [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] you might like are [name_f]Carlotta[/name_f] and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
From your list I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Freya[/name_f], and I think it would sound lovely as a combo as well; [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f] or [name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_f]Nancy[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Freya[/name_f]

[name_m]Pilot[/name_m] is unusable as a name imo.

I like it, particularly with [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] as a nickname. I follow on ig a woman with a daughter called [name_m]Pilot[/name_m], and i think its just the sweetest thing.

Though the idea of [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] is just gorgeous, and i think you can call her [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] still.

Good luck!

I don’t think [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] is usable, sorry. I adore [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]!

I do not think [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] works as a first name.
My number one preference would be [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] as a stand alone first name. [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] would be darling.

You could use [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] as a middle name, however it doesn’t appeal to me at all and I don’t think [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] would be an intuitive first name from this.

I also love [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] from your list.

I do not see [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] as a name for either gender. I adore [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] as a stand alone name or as a nickname to [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].

Its a total GP but [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] with [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] as a nickname is kind of adorable!

It may be out there now, but give it another year or two and it’ll be the next [name_u]Saylor[/name_u]

I like it, and I think it’s usable…but then, I live in NYC.

I don’t think [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] is usable. Then again, I am not a fan of any occupation name. [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] is absolutely adorable though. I love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] from your list.

I agree that it seems more GPish than anything. For me, it would be, anyhow. I don’t see the appeal of [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] as a name in general, much less on a girl, although I do love [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], and kudos for pulling it out of [name_m]Pilot[/name_m]. I’d either do a super feminine mn, like [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], or do something like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] “[name_f]Lottie[/name_f]” (or any nn for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], really). I find that I think it’s sort of cool as a mn for any of the other names on your list, but I wouldn’t be too keen on it as a FN in any combination. It probably helps that most people’s first association with it is [name_m]Jason[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]'s son, [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] Inspektor, which just seems so cartoonish (at least, to me? I assume I’m not the only one that feels so.).

Good luck!

I think if you had a compelling story behind [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] as a name it can be endearing, but if not it does seem quite out there. I’m sure you would often get asked why you chose that name. That said, I do like the nickname [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], and the more mainstream [name_f]Carlotta[/name_f] as the full name, if you decide it’s better to go that way.

Thanks everyone for your help! I don’t love occupation names like most of you but for some reason I find [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] different! Could [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] work as a nickname for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_m]Pilot[/name_m]? Or even just [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]? [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] but I love [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] even more but don’t like the obvious [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] or [name_f]Carlotta[/name_f] so can anyone think of any other FN for it???

@ashthedreamer I don’t like [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] Inspektor at all and would definitely put it with a classic girls name.

@silkypumpkin I don’t really have a sweet story but love the name because of the sounds. I like the idea of being the [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] of your own story and the sort of dreamy feel around the idea of flying. I also like how it’s sort of a feminine spunky and unique name yet [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] can be used to tone it down sometimes. However not many people love it (including my Mother!) and I don’t know if that is reasoning enough!

I love [name_m]Pilot[/name_m]! And I think [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] is a cute nn for it.

I think [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] works as a nn for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]

What about [name_f]Liselotte[/name_f]?

It makes me think of [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] Inspektor, which really puts me off the idea of using it as a given name. [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], however, is darling!

Perhaps it’s the pregnancy hormones, but I actually think [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] “classic mn” nn [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] is great! I think the option of a sweet, girly, vintage nickname like [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] saves it from being too much, too gimmicky - though it’s certainly out there! Still, if [name_u]Sailor[/name_u], [name_u]Mason[/name_u], [name_m]Archer[/name_m] etc. can be used as names, why not [name_m]Pilot[/name_m]? They may be more widely used and therefore feel more “normal” now, but 20 years ago they would have seemed just as radical and now they’re pretty mainstream.

“Classic fn” [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] nn [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] is also a great - and slightly safer - option which would allow her a bit more scope to omit her quirky middle if she felt it didn’t suit in general or in specific situations. Your traditional first name options are all very pretty and all flow nicely with [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] in the middle; I especially like [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] [name_m]Pilot[/name_m], [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] (my fave! - love the combination of feminine/traditional and quirky modern/masculine, plus it’s an honour name, plus nn [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] feels like it could come from sounds in [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], too).

If it were me, I’d probably put [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] in the middle, with [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_m]Pilot[/name_m] “[name_f]Lottie[/name_f]” being my first choice combo. It gives her more options, including the option to hide the “out there” name altogether if she wants to, and it gives you both the quirky, daring name and the sweet, vintage nickname you love while remaining more in-keeping with your usual classic style.

[name_m]Pilot[/name_m] doesn’t work imo.
