Our youngest is 7 months, but [name_m]Archie[/name_m] is being broody so I might be pregnant again soon…Anyways, I’m here to talk names, not kids!
What do we think of [name_m]Pip[/name_m] for a girl? I was reading [name_f]Pippi[/name_f] Longstocking to [name_u]Jem[/name_u] the other day and kept thinking [name_m]Pip[/name_m] could be a cute addition to our sibset. Is it usable?
To me [name_m]Pip[/name_m] is strictly boy. I think you can name her [name_f]Philippa[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] or [name_u]Piper[/name_u] and call her [name_m]Pip[/name_m]. You can also use [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] which is so adorable!
I think [name_m]Pip[/name_m] is cute! I could see it working for a girl.
Although, for me I would want it strictly as a nn, and have a full name version as well. From looking at your signature I’m not sure that’s your style, so I’ll second the suggestion of [name_f]Pippa[/name_f].
I think it’s gorgeous with your children’s names! We have quite similar taste based on these and the names in your signature actually.
[name_m]Even[/name_m] though I’d probably end up looking for a longer name to shorten to [name_m]Pip[/name_m] if I were to use it myself I think, considering you’ve got a [name_u]Jem[/name_u] and [name_u]Lou[/name_u], [name_m]Pip[/name_m] fits perfectly. I love [name_u]Jem[/name_u] especially and would use it in a heartbeat. [name_u]Lou[/name_u] is gorgeous too, both on its own and as a nickname for [name_f]Luella[/name_f].
Anyway, I say for for it! Although you’ve got some other great choices in your signature, especially [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], and [name_f]Fern[/name_f].
I don’t think it holds up on its own as well as [name_u]Jem[/name_u] and [name_u]Lou[/name_u]. I agree with pp who are suggesting [name_f]Pippa[/name_f].
I love love love [name_m]Pip[/name_m] as a nickname! I’ve only heard it on boys but it could work on a girl as well. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the Dickens association as well.
[name_f]Philippa[/name_f] “[name_m]Pip[/name_m]” would be my preference, I think it works the best with her siblings’ names. [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] works too.
[name_m]Pip[/name_m] is cute! But strictly nickname territory in my mind. One of my best friends has a daughter [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], called [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] or [name_m]Pip[/name_m] and it’s adorable.
I think [name_m]Pip[/name_m] could work, yes, especially in your sibset. However, it does feel more “nicknamey” than your other names (maybe because I think of “pip squeak”).
If I heard of a [name_m]Pip[/name_m], I would assume it was a nickname for a girl. Like [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]. It’s cute, but feels very much like a nickname to me.
[name_m]Pip[/name_m] sounds like a nickname to me.
It also reminds me of two of my kids’ favorite book characters - [name_m]Pip[/name_m] and [name_f]Posey[/name_f]
[name_m]Pip[/name_m] fits perfectly with your two!
I find generally users on nameberry aren’t big fans of nicknames as full names but if that’s your style don’t let the comments sway you.
I definitely have a soft spot for nickname names!
