I really love the name [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] as a given name. (I don’t like [name_f]Philippa[/name_f])
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] is ok on its own?
I really love the name [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] as a given name. (I don’t like [name_f]Philippa[/name_f])
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] is ok on its own?
Yes, [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] is lovely on its own.
I think [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]'s lovely, and sounds better than [name_f]Phillipa[/name_f]. I quite like nicknames as full names; they can add a bit of personality and fun which I feel is definitely the case with [name_f]Pippa[/name_f].
I think it’s OK on its own, but I’ve also heard of people using it as a nickname for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] if that helps.
I have a bad personal association with [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] and the nn [name_u]Phil[/name_u], but thankfully not with [name_f]Pippa[/name_f], which I think is really cute. I wouldn’t use it, but if I did, I would use it on its own - it works perfectly well as a full name.
I think its lovely on its own. I personally hate [name_f]Phillipa[/name_f], but love [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]. The fact it doesn’t end in ‘ie’ makes it sound like a name in its own right, unlike most nicknames
Absolutely! One of my best friends is named [name_f]Pippa[/name_f].
THE NAMING OF A BOOK CHARACTER:
Me– [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]?
[name_m]Friend[/name_m]– Yeah, I’ll pass. (laughs)
Me– Why?
[name_m]Friend[/name_m]– That’s not a real name.
Me– Yeah, it’s short for—
[name_m]Friend[/name_m]– Wait, I thought you were kidding! Sorry, that’s awful.
I should say that my friend and I have very different tastes. So that’s what a non-[name_u]Berry[/name_u] (AKA normal people) think/s of [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]. Though I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it.
I think it’s super cute and if you love it, go for it!!
I can’t really agree. I love [name_f]Philippa[/name_f], and I’m not so fond on the nn [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] (as a nn or by itself) but I can see it on somebody. I do think it’s a nice name, even if I can’t like it.
It works as a given name. I wouldn’t since it is sexual slang in a couple of languages (from what I’ve read: swedish where it’s slang for sexual intercourse and greek where it’s slang for a bj). However, people have been named [name_m]Dick[/name_m], [name_f]Fanny[/name_f], etc. and have been completely fine.
It’s perfect.
I know several women, one who is around fifty, who still choose to go by [name_f]Pippa[/name_f], even though they have the choice, so I think it is fine on its own.
