It’s a Yiddish word that means “[name_m]Little[/name_m] One” and it’s the name of a [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] song. It means something to me and suddenly struck me as a word with middle name potential.
What do you think of the sound? Does it work as a middle?
The Pit sound makes it a no. Sorry. Maybe try [name_u]Philadelphia[/name_u]? Or [name_f]Selah[/name_f]? Or if you like the song, [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]?
Unfortunately I think the combination of Pits at the beginning and -eleh at the end (which I’m pronouncing like -ula, as in the latin word ending that ends up on a lot of medical conditions nowadays, as well as monster names like Dracula and Chocula and Bunnicula) makes this one pretty tough.
Oh gosh. I want to love it because of the meaning, and the [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] song is great, but sadly the actual sound of the word doesn’t work in my opinion. If you really, really want to use it then a middle name would definitely be the place to do so. It’ll just have to be explained … a lot.
Other options that have similar meaning but are prettier in sound:
[name_f]Amoret[/name_f] / Amorette – little love
Ayita – little one
[name_f]Sula[/name_f] / [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] – peace / little she bear
[name_f]Bonita[/name_f] / [name_f]Belita[/name_f] – little beauty
Callula – small
[name_f]Carina[/name_f] – dear little one
[name_f]Alida[/name_f] – small winged
[name_f]Cosette[/name_f] – little pet
[name_f]Maleah[/name_f] – unique little girl
Koemi – little smile
[name_f]Lunetta[/name_f] – little moon
Elita – little winged one – has ties to [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
[name_f]Ellette[/name_f] – little elf
Thank you for your advice! The “pit” thing does put me off, but I love that song & it has a lot of meaning for me, maybe it just can’t work for a person. If I ever adopt a Pit Bull it would be perfect
I’ve never seen this name before! To be honest, I don’t love the sound of it, but if it’s really meaningful for you I don’t think it’s an awful middle name. Personally, I would rather have Pitseleh as a middle name than a filler middle name.
