Place name names that aren't immediately obvious?

My SO told me last night that if we’re to have another child in the future, he wants their names to link together somehow. Our daughter’s name is [name_f]Siena[/name_f]. So basically our options are Italian, colours, or place names.
I like the idea, and I’m going to start with place names because I feel there’s more options…
I don’t want them to be too matchy, or immediately obvious that it’s a place name.

That’s partly why we named our daughter [name_f]Siena[/name_f] (as well as our personal connection with the place) because unless you know a bit about places in [name_f]Italy[/name_f], particularly Tuscany, you probably wouldn’t initially think ‘oh that’s a place name’ …it holds well on its own without being too tied to the place.

I like [name_u]Lucca[/name_u] (or [name_u]Luca[/name_u]), which is another Italian town, and while to most it wouldn’t be an obvious match, to me it feels a bit too matchy, because it’s another Tuscan town.

So, do you have any suggestions of somewhat obscure or not obvious place names? Doesn’t have to be Italian, in fact probably better that it’s not

EDIT: I’m from New Zealand, so major cities of NZ and Australia are ruled out.

Thanks

[name_u]Lucca[/name_u]/[name_u]Luca[/name_u] is an excellent idea as well.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Siena[/name_f]! It’s one of my personal favorites! [name_f]Siena[/name_f] and [name_u]Lucca[/name_u] are perfect and don’t scream place names.

Place names are kind of relative… I’m [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] so my name in the states would be considered a place name whereas where I live nobody even links it to a place.
I’m assuming you are american.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought but we have friends whose girls both have floral names. The first has a fn that’s a flower and the second has it as a mn. This could be a cool approach for you guys as well - provided you fall in love with a fn that doesn’t fit the categories.

I’ve been to both [name_f]Siena[/name_f] and [name_u]Lucca[/name_u]! Although I think it’s cute to have two italian names I think maybe you are painting yourself into a corner with that?! what if you have a third (unexpected) kid would they too need an italian place name? Maybe stick to something that isn’t from [name_f]Italy[/name_f]?

Off the top of my head these two weren’t mentioned by pp’s:
[name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] - [name_u]Egypt[/name_u] and Northern [name_f]Virginia[/name_f] (right outside [name_m]Washington[/name_m], DC)
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] - St [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]'s Scottland

[name_m]How[/name_m] about a name that describes a place?:
[name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m], [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]… etc
